So with the coming of summer I have decided to completely redo my current hotkey set up. Originally I was using 1 for main army, 2 for all production, 3 for ghosts, banshess, hellions stuff like that, 4 was cc, 5 just facts, 6 starport, 7 just barracks,8 I remapped to Q and used that for drops and the like. As you can tell my original setup was awful, but I was able to use it to some success (diamond level terran). In order to learn my new hotkeys I first needed an account there was noway I was going to tank my precious ladder ranking  Luckily my friend gave me his old account he only uses for customs every once in a while. I had the account all i needed was the hotkeys. I left my cc the same, but put all production on 5, facts on 6, starports on 7, and barracks on 8. This gives me the ability to have 123 just for units. Making it much easier to control my army than trying to go 13Q. With my new hotkeys fresh in my mind, I was ready to ladder it up. Somehow I was place back into diamond while using these new hotkeys. Honestly I am shocked, the people that I played in plat I felt were not even gold caliber... I spent half the games looking down trying to figure out what I am doing and my APM has dropped off a ton. I feel that with a little bit of practice I will get them down. The only real issue I see is that in a big battle I go to 2 to produce marines out of pure habit. That has lost me a few games here and there but NBD. I also think I need to work on my hand placement on my keyboard. I usually leave it over ASD as if I am playing an FPS with my little finger on shift. With the new hotkeys I am using I am trying to do the same thing but I could switch my hand placement to the middle of the keyboard if needed. If anyone has any advice concerning hand placement on the keyboard, or any general let me know .

ive learned to put my hands over 124 (left ring, middle, index) with my pinky hovering over shift or ctrl...
only for starcarft though.
try using ~ for another hotkey

I use ~ for base swapping, thanks for reminding me actually I need to remap than on my new account lol.

lol for the longest time I did 1-rax, 2-fact, 3-starport, 4-8 CCs, 9 scout, 0 all upgrades...
yeah i clicked around A LOT

rebind it to something useful, even a camera hotkey for your rally :p.
its useful as hell cause your thumb is almost always in that area anyway

I play Terran and I actually use the same hotkey setup that KawaiiRice uses. No I didn't get the idea from him but it turns out that it is the same.
1: CCs
2: Rax's
3: Fact
4: Starport
5-7 Army
9: Armory
0: Engineering Bay
I also have 0 binded to the ~ Key. I also have been trying to see if I can combine Rax/Fact into one hotkey but I can't get the factories to build tanks/hellions for some reason.
Oh, and I use the F keys for locations.
F1: Main
F2: Natural
F3: Third
etc etc
I have small hands and always found 1a2a to be uncomfortable. I feel like 5a6a works much better for me. It's cool that you did the change though. I made the change from the tradition 1a2a3a army setup a while back.
