So as we all are aware of, the economy kind of sucks right now, and recently my parents have had to take care of my uncle who is recovering from a shattered shoulder. So they've been trying to cut back in costs, don't get me wrong they make my uncle pay for somethings, but it's still another person to take care of.
In their quest to pay less money for things we switched cable and internet providers. We went from having Bright House, to Wow. I didn't really see a difference, they said it cost less and we actually got a dvr for the basement t.v., on top of that the internet was running faster than ever.
Now for some unknown reason my parents decided to switch from Wow, to AT&T Uverse. Now first thing is, the t.v. guide confuses the hell out of me now, second thing is the internet is really, really fucking slow, to put it in perspective, I could have 12 tabs open with Wow and they could all be playing 1080p resolution videos. With AT&T, I'm buffering when playing one at 480p.
Now some people may be able to live with that, but my computer is like my wife, we have a torrid love afair me and her (Now...I don't want anyone one to get the wrong idea with that, what I mean is that lets say I've downloaded a new very cpu demanding game, if your secretly watching me, you will see me basiclly molest my computer to make sure it works, then fuck it more or less when it does actually work). Now I have this piece of shit internet provider that slows her down, needless to say I'm pretty pissed right now. I'm going to bitch to no end because while the price may be lower (by the way I don't think we switched because AT&T was cheeper, I think we switched mainly because my dad was getting pissed at Wow's dvr or some shit like that) we are getting a significantly lower quality service.

If you're not paying for it, you really have no right to complain.
Also, you talk about a CPU intensive program but whine about internet problems... what?
|
First world problems.......
I assume your parents pay for the internet? If so, be quiet & be happy what you have (I had 14.4k internet when I was 13 lol), OR pay for the internet/cable yourself.
|
I have never once in my life been able to run even one 1080p video without extensive buffering, despite owning the best internet I can. 10 at once is almost incomprehensible. Someone must have fucked up my shit, somehow, somewhere.

Be glad you don't have netzero lolzors. I remember how I was happy when one webpage actually was displayed after like 10 minutes of loading.

Purchase your own internet service......

Chip in the for better Internet ya slackass if u want better Internet negotiate with your parents how you can get it. I.e more chores/ make money/ I can't live with slow Internet its the worst

I have U-verse and it is the cheapest and most reliable ISP I've ever had (and I've had probably 6 or 7). The thing about it, though, is that you can get higher bandwidth (for more money, of course) if that is what you want. Your parents probably went with the lowest bandwidth option to save money. If you want more speed, chip in and pay for it, or better yet gtfo of your parents' house (I'm not sure how old you are though so maybe that isn't 100% appropriate).

That's the world we live in, things tend to suck. Remember, talk-action = 0

I have 28k internet...and I live perfectly fine with it (perfectly as in I can play 1v1 sc2 and browse TL quickly, however Facebook never completely loads for me). Get on with life.
I also don't get the pay less get less thing. At my brothers apartment he pays $30 for 10mb internet. However he recieves 17mb during the day and I've seen it as high as 43mb at night. Living 100yards away from the tower doesn't' hurt either.
