Sponsorship
These are a lot harder to attain then you think. Before you say, "no shit sherlock," let me explain. Talking with potential sponsors is way more tedious then just filling out some form on their site and crossing your fingers. You have to open up conversations with emails, send exported data files, explain your value, offer financial estimates, project growth over the next six months. Lets just say its a lot of work for a 16 year old high school student that hasn't touched foot in a marketing or business class. I contacted some of these sponsors when I was first brought on, and I'm still negotiating with most of them.
Social Media
Never really knew how powerful Facebook and Twitter could really be, but as the manager, I quickly learned to love them. With the new overhaul on FB admin panels for fan pages, writing pitches become ten times easier (I also learned how to develop a pitch for companies). If you manage a team and don't use Facebook or Twitter, you are missing out on whole metrics for advertising, honestly
Tournaments
I'm so glad that I have another manager for this, I thank God everyday I can focus on sponsors and players without having to work with the mess known as "team leagues" and "qualifiers." Sorry I can't really contribute on this other than Playhem and all the other daily tournaments are what keep small teams afloat.
Player Scouting
I do a lot of player scouting, and I hope none of you comment saying that I am unable to really scout because I'm a gold league player. In all seriousness, it doesn't require game knowledge to be able to know if a player is worth a pick up or not. I'll admit that I am not involved in searching for new talent (AKA tryouts), but saying that I can't see talent is like telling a Football scout he can't do his job because he isn't a head coach. I spend hours watching Playhems, WCS quals, endlessly searching through Liquipedia (which is a huge resource for scouting), and talking to players to see if they want to tryout. It has slowly become a great passion of mine and I think I'm pretty good at it, but here is a secret if you want to get into this kind of thing and want to save yourself a ton of work. Look in Korea. There are so many master-level players on the KR server that would smash the NA ladder in a heart beat, and they are just waiting to get picked up.
Conclusion
If you have any questions for me I would be honored to answer them and If you have any advice for me I would love to hear it. Thanks TL (sorry if I have some grammar errors but this was written at 12 A.M.)
