EPTWell... Today was quite an interesting day ladder wise. Today I played in a online plat and under tournament, and needless to say I was crushed first round no problem. And that match up was my worst :/ ZvZ. Who ever designed ZvZ really needs to do something about it! I JUST WANT TO MACRO but then in comes 20 zerglings to ruin my day, and all my drones day for that matter. I think that my problem in ZvZ is that I'm making too many drones and not enough units to attack. But, I feel so bad that those mineral patches aren't getting harvested >.< Well, I guess it's something I will have to smooth out in my game play.
I haven't played many ZvT match ups today but I think that I may have found something! The gap of time between when the Terran player is switching his barracks with his factory and when he starts hellion production. Normally the terran player doesn't have many marines out at the start of the game, normally one or two to poke around and attack. I was thinking, what if someone super early baneling busted? Like before the 5 minute mark. Is that even possible? I guess I'll have to test it out. But if it is possible then you could just bust the front depots and attack his drones. Of course the timing would have to be perfect but you never know.
Things I Learned:
1. Hydras > Roaches in terms of damage (Yes, I know it's obvious.. Sadly I didn't get the memo from the hydras)
2. In ZvZ defending and attacking is very important. If you can sneak in a couple of drones here it would be even better but the main thing is to keep pressure on the opponent and make sure he dose not make drones.
3. Hellions are good... R.I.P drones </3
4. When hellions come into my mineral line I should just transfer them to the natural instead of trying to micro them around. This just makes me loss my zerglings and my drones.
5. Protoss are easy to beat, for now
6. Almost never go hatch first in ZvP... The last time I did I got the good old three pylon wall off treatment. It was a great game which ended in my making mass roaches and then rage quitting when I saw voidrays T.T
