I've been finger snapping for ages, probably ever since my dad showed me the proper ways to snap your fingers. I think that was before I was ten. I snap to songs, also improvising and pretending I'm playing the drums, or even rhytm guitar. I think it's a lot of fun, decent practice as well I guess because my arms / biceps get really sore afterwards.
However, I need to do it when I'm by myself because ehh.. It looks kind of stupid doing this in the hallway at school and at home people get really annoyed by it as well. I wonder, is this a completely useless thing to do? Probably, right? Does anyone see it as a cool thing or does everyone think it's silly? My mother always thinks I'm nervous when I just like doing it in order to practice it and get better...
I've seen day9 do the "hard snap" thing that he fails miserably usually and he seems to think it's difficult? Do people really think it's difficult? Would people be interested in me making a finger snapping tutorial? Or recording videos of myself snapping to the rhytm of a song? Would that be interesting at all to see? I see Bobby Badfingers in America's Got Talent and he's really bad and slow with no stamina and still he got a lot of praise... is it the showmanship? Hmm...
It takes a lot of skill to snap properly, using the correct amount of strenght in order to get a loud sound while still not exhausting yourself too much. It's very difficult to keep up relatively fast-paced snapping without getting exhausted, at least for me. In addition there's the different power snaps, I can very the volume of my snaps so it sounds "melodic" instead of monotone snapping and this took me a ton of practice as well. I feel like people just don't appreciate this at all.
Should I make video tutorials for different kinds of snaps? How about snapping to the rhytm of some songs? Just improvising? Do you guys think that anyone would want to see them?
I recorded a very short video with me trying to snap my fingers as fast as possible with a single hand, here's it if you are interested in watching: http://www.mediafire.com/?bzobke4i6na7a34
Loooooooool I started snapping to the song I was listening to as I was reading this blog. I feel like its a great skill to have when someone says something you don't agree withm because then you can do the
"Oh no you dinnent!" snap, which is pretty fucking awesome if you know when to do it. Always makes people laugh/think your a moron. Hahahaha
Edit: If I ever won a gsl game I would get out of my booth and do that snap to the opposing player.
I figured mediafire was the best o.O It's the one I always use and it's only 1.3mb(DLs for me in 0.6s). Youtube shits the quality up completely and it's a .wmv file because that's what my webcam's recording software uses so I don't even know if it's possible to upload there. Do you have better suggestions?
youtube doesn't do anything to the original quality if you don't want it to... for the record. not sure where you are getting that information, but I think you are simply misinformed.
also, does your WEBCAM really take such quality audio / video that you are worried about compression? LOL honestly this entire thing just made me laugh.

Youtube converts it to flash and I actually have experience with it killing my videos o.O
I guess 2 people are enough so I'll try to post a guide to general later today
I was joking man, but like you I do a ton of finger snapping. In fact, I've used these skills in some shows. I don't just finger snap. I try to use my entire body as a human drum.
No, I've never tried Metaliica's Ride the Lightning. I could give it a try though! ;D
For the record, you never finished publishing the video on dailymotion... (which means none of us can see it) and I'm still quite curious as to all the commotion about finger snapping.
I don't want to download it, could you PLEASE finish publishing it? Takes like 30 seconds to fill out all the fields.....
