Hello again TLers!!!
As my previous topic was really helpful in my trip to Paris (http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=304973) now i wish to use your knowledge again in visiting Czech Republic,
I know that it's not the most common destination to visit but i feel that there are a few of you who have been there or live there and can help me with some
At first i guess we (me and my gf) will be traveling mostly by car so travel issue we have solved.
We decided to visit Plzen, Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Hradec Karlove and Ostrava so any info about ANY of these places will be really appreciated.
At first, accomodation, do you know where to stop for a night in any of these towns? We have some problems in finding place to stay cuz there arent many hostels in these towns in the internet so i figured to ask you, else we will have to look for them when we get there but i want to save as many free time there i can get. :D
At second, of course places to eat? have you eaten in Czech Republic anything that is really worth recommending or at least a place to eat worth seeing?
Or anything else that wont be described in books about Czech Rep, that is really worth seeing ( places, monuments and stuff?)
We will ofc REALLLLLLLLLLY appreciate any input you give here!!! if you know anything interesting bout Czech Rep. share it here plox plox plox...
Thanks in advance!!!!

A very important question while visiting the Czech Republic: are you of drinking age?

I were once in Prague. Alot of cheap beer and beautiful girls! :D

Hey Noob-a-tron, GL on your trip. My wife and I went before we got married and it was great.
The Rough Guide do a great book on the Czech Republic and that was our bible for the whole trip, most of the accommodation tips we got from there (which we generally booked online beforehand) were great. Also the restaurants, attractions etc listed in it were great too.
Out of where you're going we only went to Prague and Brno - I have a vague memory that Sedlec was a very short train journey away from Prague. A taxi ride from the station will take you here:

You really need to go see this - a church made of bones from people that wanted to be buried on the site's holy ground. They had a shit load of bone that they didn't know what to do with so they built a church. Obviously.
I can remember very little about Czech geography but this next place was on our route from Brno if it's anywhere near your route I strongly recommend, the most beautiful town I have ever been to with the most beautiful architecture I have ever beheld (it's also a tourist destination for German holiday makers - not in a bad way - that float down the river drinking and singing songs on small boats):

I vaguely remember staying a lovely if not packed hostle called Hotel Merlin.... We travelled in 2010~ summer, accommodation was cheap, as was food and beer. They do great pizza and cater for vegetarians well (Cesky and Prague catered well for me). They also love literature and comics.
Sorry! To answer your questions this book is your bible!

We got most hostels and restaurants from here (but Czech has very good tourist info), websites listed all worked and most places speak English OK.

One of the best things about the Czech Republic is the small towns. If you're in Prague then you should at least set aside a couple of days for day trips out to the surrounding area. I'll let you do a bit of research on that and make your own discoveries.
Other than that I'm mostly just thinking of the Capuchin mummies in Brno. A lot of the rest of it will be obvious for someone on a trip like yours. You probably won't have enough time to live but there's lots to see.
If you want to eat some good Czech food without dicking around then just go to Kolkovna. There are a bunch of them and their menu is interesting.
