I've been selling keycaps on ebay and fortunately came to met a buyer who we will call George.
Now i sent the keycaps the very next day after he had paid for them but came across a certain problem. The lady at the post office that day continuously refused to give me a tracking number or any delivery confirmation because my package was too thin.
So i sent him this message apologizing to him that i could not provide a tracking number with his order.
![[image loading]](http://i45.tinypic.com/28gtpus.jpg) He never replied.
Until one day out of the blue he decided to send me this message.

Then i replied

Which received a reply like so

And the grand finale

Apparently he thought i was trying to screw him over for $5. I understand the consumer has the power in any transaction but i had no control once it was in the post office's hands. Did i deal with this right? I was too tempted to cuss him out because he refused to communicate with me in a calm manner.
This was my first negative feedback and its bothering the heck out of me. Really wish there was something i could do to him but as a seller i can't do anything about it. I left him positive feedback(before he started screaming at me) and he left me a rude negative feedback.
Any fellow TL'ers who use Fleabay experience this?

The best thing you can do is insert your side of the story underneath his feedback. You handled it better than me when a buyer won an auction of mine and wouldn't pay. I cussed his ass out.
|
I might be wrong (been a while since I sold something on Ebay) but I know for sure you can add a note explaining in the feedbackto anyone who see's it, and I *think* there's even the option to contact ebay with the conversations and ask them to remove the feedback as it was unreasonable.
I don't think you did anything wrong though, but the guy seems like a complete *expletive of your choice denoting stupidity*.

I work on the service industry. You know how they have these saying like the customer is always right or the customer comes right and stuff like that. It all bull shit. The customer a lot of the time is illogical whiney and annoying. You did what you could and even offered a refund. Some people just want to bitch. I learned early on that sometimes you just have to say whatever and move on it will help your mind.
|
Example from today. Customer calls for service. i say service team can be there between 1:30-2:30 customer requests earlier time and i move schedule around so we can get there between 1130 and 1230 customer say thats better team. Service team arives at 12:00 no one home door locked. Call phone no answer. Service team leaves a not saying what time they were there. 1:30 customer call asking where service team is saying they were scheduled at 1....................
Tempted to call customer an idiot dont say we can have someone there at 2:30 and i apolgise for the mess up. We arrive perfrom service customer complains about standard 85$ service fee............. i prepare to shoot my self

You should never send a package without a tracking number. That's the same thing as giving it away for free. The buyer can just claim he never received a package and open a paypal dispute. Paypal will ask for proof that you sent a package and you have none.

Thats definitely true but i shipped a good amount of packages without tracking numbers in the past and this time when i went to the post office they adamantly refused to give me a tracking number or delivery confirmation unless i made my package thicker and paid more. I'll admit i should've just repackaged it but i wanted to get the package to him asap. Not looking to open a dispute on paypal but i'm definitely aggravated at his replies.
Hes constantly calling me extremely messed up names so i started cussing back :\ He brought up how hes from Brooklyn and how being a Brooklyn resident gives him the most common sense in the world.

Then that's fraud, the postal office should have some type of proof or just refund I guess.
|
Shouldn't the post office give you a receipt when you send something, even if it's not tracked? They do it in Germany, at least, I'm sure that combined with your message history to the guy should be enough of a proof to have eBay remove the negative feedback from your store.
|
Unfortunately i emailed ebay and as i expected they will not side with me. Ebay heavily favors buyers. Even if a buyer were to be completely rude even after receiving the package, a seller is still not allowed to leave negative feedback.

Some of the big sellers make new acc if something goes bad. Pump up its feedback with tiny orders, then get back into big business

Should have sent him a package of feces when he asked "where's his shit." Always fun to take 'shit' literally.

Ebay is a fucking scumbag.
Got my ebay back in 2005, just went on for the first time in a few years to sell the GF's old laptop and an old video card. Ended up getting around 190-200 for both items combined. Then ebay charged me 20 bucks? Ebay fees? What the fuck is this shit?
I used like 10 pics total (2 items) and 2 pages, it costs pennies in the digital world. Then they get 20 bucks for these 2 items?
What a waste, ill just use free craigslist from now on, what a scam.

You cannot control those things that are outside of your control.
You will always come across people like this and as you said. Once it's in the post offices hands. There is nothing you can do about it.
