Ladder BM Ruined My Day
So I've been trying to ladder down my bonus pool, and I roll up a TvP on Shakuras. I can immediately tell this guy is a punk because he plays Protoss. But I have respect for everyone, so give out my traditional gl hf...

...AND HE DOESN'T RESPOND.
Now this doesn't mean he's BM, but it's a bad sign. I'll let my screenshots speak for themselves. Basically, this guy ruined my day. I let him and his freaking BM get under my skin even though I shouldn't. I kind of pride myself on at least being OK, manner wise, and trying to enjoy the ladder experience as much as possible. but when you encoutner BS like this on the ladder, it really makes you feel bad, even if you were feeling good.
I'm not even sure what to say other than that. I don't get BMed much, as a macro-style terran, but when I do, it just gets me so mad. What do you guys do when you see this kind of egregious BM on the ladder? It's even worse when they do it when the win, because then I can't even feel good about having won the game...

bitbybit told me the best way to deal with BM is by scv marine all-ining, so you should try that for a few games!

Not sure if trolling or really be serious about this... Because if I understand well, you were the Terran and *YOU* BM him all the game long.
My simple advice is, if you GL HF and you opponent does't not respond, keep quiet and don't go mad. The best answer to someone ignoring you and/or BM you is just to stay focus and CRUSH HIM in the game.
Period.

I feel terrible for the person you played if they didn't know you were going to do that coming into it. Assuming that's the case, I also can't believe how incredibly manner that player was.

If you dont' want to deal with bm, press f11 and click on the square by your opponents name. He is muted and thus you will not see any text. It's what I do when I get bm'd. It's what I did whenever I saw combat/deezer and all they would spam all game were how bad you are. Also did it vs zilea cause that guy says the stupidest shit (omg I won blizzcon in WoW, I have 5600 followers) as if that means he's good  . But yeah if you dont' want to deal with it ever or he says something that irritates you do what I said f11, click on the squar on the menu that pops and you won't see any more of his writing.

I know this was supposed to be a troll, but as a protoss player I can feel nothing but pity for the poor guy, I mean really? BM'ing him to death for no apparent reason, and then go 1/1/1? Not to mention he seemed like one of the most apologetic, friendly blokes you'll ever see on ladder.

Did that really get to you? I think it's quite amusing.
The BM that really disturbs me is when they start going into wishing you cancer and all kinds of horrible deaths and misfortunes for you and your family. That sort of stuff really makes me wonder if I want to play this game again. That's a line that I wouldn't cross and a line that when it's crossed against me, really gets to me. I wouldn't wish anyone a slow and painful death and I would certainly not wish for anyone to lose their loved ones.
I love creative BM, where the people aren't taking themselves too seriously (I hope you step on a Lego piece.) and this one was just one of the many "P OP" whines that every P gets on ladder.

How to deal with it.
Ok, here is what I am doing. I am in general extremely mannered when it comes to SC2 because I think it's fun to talk to people during the game. I always start off the game with something along the lines of "GLHF and all that good jazz" or "GLHF ♥." I don't know how many people I have taught how to do the ♥ instead of <3. (It's ALT+NUM3)
What does that have to do with dealing with BM? It's simple. After a game where you had to deal with a lot of BM that really got to you, just keep playing and be friendly and talkative during the next game. That usually results in some kind of civil exchange of thoughts and will restore your faith in the SC2 community after a low blow. Talk about a tournament that's going on, talk about that sick Marine split by MKP in the last game against DRG during MLG, teach someone how to do the ♥ or whatever you want. It's amazing what happens simply by being nice. I know it sounds like I am making this up but I have actually watched the replays of games I have won against opponents together with them and we shared our analysis. (It is a bit complicated because you can't really watch replays together, thanks Blizz). This sort of stuff does happen! Bring it out in people and you will laugh about BM like this.
For the sake of not painting a wrong picture of me. I do get angry and I am not always that nice. There are games where I start off with a "GLHF ♥" and end with something like "If I was orb, I would call you all kinds of insensitive things, but since I am not I will just not say GG". Don't flame me for bringing up orb, I always make a reference to what he does when he rages because it makes my raging seem more intelligent and funny.

I've been dealing with bm since 1999, at the end the best way to deal with them, is to not say anything...

I usually find the best way to deal with bm is actively respond and joke around with your opponent. He calls it OP you just say "I know right! Look how easy it is to beat you lol" and just try to make a game out of the banter. It makes fun rather than depressing and annoying.
There are plenty of people that don't talk at all when they play. That's not really a sign of anything.
Edit: goddammit. I read the whole post I was just confused who was who in the game ;_;

But seriously I feel like I should just mute everybody when I start playing, to avoid any BM whatsoever. But I'm not sure if there's a limit on the number of people I can block...if I ever reach that point I'll need a new solution. I can't *not* read the text he/she is typing!! Ugh .
Also OP that better have been against a friend, otherwise shame on you!!! Its hard to imagine it being a normal guy/girl...he's just too nice!
