I think this minority of gamers need to change their attitude. They don't need to develop metrosexual grooming habits or stop swearing all-together. Gamers need to at least try to "integrate" with normal society. Perhaps even appear to be a functioning member of said society. People with wives/kids can't still post goatse on a forum... Great blog! | ||

I was raging a bit when I wrote this blog. and i have to say that it is a bit uncalled for. I mean, sure people are guna act immature and screw around and that's fine. It does suck when it negatively effects other people, or when it negatively effects the scene, but whatever, its all part of havin fun and just acting the way we wana act. I still think that a bunch of pros need to grow up when they are streaming. That's probably my biggest peeve these days. When kids sit in their basement and act like duchebags and have a few hundered-thousand people watching them. But even then, not enough mainstream people are watching and we viewers have the choice to turn off the stream so it is what it is. | ||

That being said, I would like to see some standard's be raised, especially on the ladder. Opponents calling each other "nigger" and "Faggot" all the time certainly don't help the scene. In the end though, a lot of excitement in the SC2 scenes comes from the drama and the controversy. And neutering ourselves will never be the make or break change that allows SC2 to grow bigger. Players should get mad when they lose, casters shouldn't be afraid to tell a risky joke once in a while, viewers should be allowed to swear out loud when their favorite player loses. its part of the lawlessness of the scene that makes it so fun. And besides, you'll see these type of things in other sports as well. Also, I think a lot of SC2 fans are a lot more "normal" than you think. We're not all basement-trolls who disregard hygiene and social-manners. | ||

Now while you do raise decent points, I feel most of them are borne out of close mindedness and ignorance.
