Dude get an iPod shuffle it's the best. You've got an incredibly small form factor combined with incredible reliability, what more could you need.

Sandisk sansa clip+. Nuff said. It fits well with going to the gym plus it plays flac and you can just drag and drop music files. Small enough to be not annoying too.

I have a Sansa Clip+ (2-3 years now) and yeah it has a small battery and the clip broke after 2 years of use but it's been amazing value compared to an iPod and it just works.

This vs. an iPod shuffle is that this has a screen so you can choose what track you want. If you don't care then maybe the Shuffle is better.

Just buy one at your local store with your desired price. Remember tho: What you pay for is what you get.

Sandisk Clip series also supports rockbox firmware, which is vastly superior to stock firmware.

I'm the like the complete opposite than you and it is so hard. I've had my lugged big and fat mp3 (30gigs) for about 6 years now (since 2006) and I love it. Looking for the same big chunky mp3s is hard as hell if it's not an Apple (which I do not want D:<)

Sandisk, is that still an option? I know Creative still makes a lot of decent mp3s

Sansa Fuze was the best player I ever had, cheap, great sound quality and a good battery.
Too bad the second gen ( Fuze+) is crap compared and the prices doubled since I bought my player 3 years ago.
If you can get the original Fuze, stick a rockbox on it and you are good to go.

Too bad I lost mine last summer when i sank in a bog.

Actually quite untrue regarding mp3 players.

I've been using a Sansa Clip for a couple of years and I'm very happy with it. I've actually had two, and both have had this weird problem where they just spontaneously turn themselves off for no reason every once in a great while, but other than that they're great and certainly worth their surprisingly low price.

Before I got Google Music on my Android phone, I used a Sony NWZ-A818 for everything. It's thin, sturdy, and the buttons are awesome. You can press them through your pants which is awesome at the gym. I did my playlists with winamp, worked perfectly. Great sound and superb battery.

Random Google review: http://reviews.cnet.com/radios/sony-nwz-a818-8gb/4505-7875_7-32593873.html

It's old now but god damn if you can get a hold on one of them at a low price... You will be a happy smurf.

I had a sansa fuze and it was the best mp3 player I ever had until I drop it and my father's car run over...RIP.
I'm planning on get another fuze or a clip+. Seriopusly, it's probably the best cost/benefict you could get for a mp4 player.

I would get the cheapest iPod shuffle. I've had my 1st gen white 512mb shuffle since 2005 until it was stolen a year ago. It was great, lightweight and portable. The newest shuffle is like the size of a coin and you can clip it to your shirt and it won't get in your way.

I swear the Sandisk Sansa Clip is the best MP3 Player you can get in the low prive range. It's simply amazing how something that cheap can have such amazing quality nowadays. It has all you want.

The way I use my ipod classics is as a storage device for music, other files, huge movie files (Thats not playable on the ipod) playable ipod movies, photos, game files.

So pretty much like a Harddrive
Stick it up. take it up. step aside and see the world

To steal this thread: are there any players that have a hard drive and not a flash drive that is NOT Apple? I really don't want an iPod but it seems like the only product that actually uses a hard drive these days.

Reason being I want to have some space and flash drives just aren't that big yet and if they are, they're crazy expensive.

I had a clip+ brick out on me and found the issue was due to different styles of "tags" on my music tracks, certain types of tags caused the player to go kapoot. Since over writing the tags on all my music to ID3v2.3 I've had 0 problems with my clip+ and its a fabulous cheap little thing.

Wouldn't advise any other player in it's price range, it also does microSD which is nice.

this.
you get what you pay.
if youre price range is 30 pounds youre not gonna get something super amazing that lasts forever.
youre gonna have to live with something that isnt perfect.
although i would recommend buying it on the internet since it will be cheaper (99% of the time).
