EPTSo anyway this first adventure takes place at MLG Orlando which was my first 'big event' casting for MLG on the beta streams to all the amazing eSports followers tuning in. The event itself was amazing the crowd and casting to the crowd for a few of the games I casted that were air'd on the big screen was an experience second to none. One of my most beloved casts that weekend being the games between MKP and Drewbie. Specifically the game they played on shattered temple where MKP was up in the game only to have it all slip away after he Nuked all of his own marines in what could only be called an epic but beautiful to watch mistake. It's one of those rare moments as a caster that just don't come very often where something amazing in a game happens.
So getting back on topic the event wraps up on Sunday and Huk wins which was amazing to watch, though a story for another addition. All the staff had headed for the hotel pool and bar to unwind after a very busy and tiring weekend of producing the spectacle that is an MLG event.
I being of age headed over to the bar got a drink and interestingly enough bumped into Sean and Alex (day9 and the owner of EG for those who don't know). We started talking for a bit and decided to sit down at a table at the bar to relax a bit and just chat. Not really about anything important mind you, just essentially the same types of things one of you reading this blog might talk about randomly with a couple of friends.
Well as we are all sitting there out of the corner of my eye I notice a guy kind of starring in our direction. At first I don't really take much notice, but over time he slowly starts slinking closer and closer to the table were all just hanging out and sitting at. He ends up eventually standing kind of leaning on the edge of the booth were sitting at.
To give you a visual the booths in this place had very very tall backs to the seats, where basically the top of the booth was a good foot passed the top of your head while sitting down.
So anyway, the guy is just standing there kind of starring at Sean, he clearly wants to say something or who knows what. He's wearing a flannel shirt and has glasses and jeans on and is just kind of chilling there listening in and looking towards Sean. A few minutes go by of this and frankly it's gotten to the point that I'm either going to break out in laughter or say something.
So assuming the guy doesn't have any wierd intentions I say to Sean "Hey Sean I think you have a fan who wants to say HI" or something to that extent but you get the idea.
Sean turns around to the guy who now looks kind of stunned or star struck if you will. Holds out his hand to shake the guys hand and introduces himself and is very very friendly to the guy. The guy kind of says nothing for a second then eventually says "hi my girlfriend wanted to meet you". Sean being the chill guy he is says something to the affect of "sure" and the guy waves his girlfriend over.
Now I have absolutely nothing against the fan he just wanted to say hi. But over walks his girl dressed in pretty much the exact same attire he was wearing. The flannel, the jeans, the glasses the whole nine yards. I have to be honest the picture and the circumstances just made it all very funny and it was extremely hard to not laugh. I didn't though because the guy just wants to say hi and get is girlfriend over there and that's perfectly fine, so I don't want to embarrass him.
So the Girlfriend walks over says hi shakes Sean's hand and then the two immediately book it like they were late for an appointment or something. Sean turns back to us with an expression I can't really explain in words needless to say it was an odd event. He says "well with that, I need to go do some stuff and meet with Nick" and departs. Alex leaves as well do I, but I will forever remeber that event.
It was a weird and funny situation at the same time, but a memorable one and Sean was every bit of the nice guy and the class act you'd of expected him to be.
