Exactly.
Thus, it is always fun for me! Though, I've clocked myself in the head a few times and did quite a number to my arm: http://yfrog.com/khh3sxcj

Odd, is it because of the music being copyrighted or something?

Altho i wasn't nearly as good as the girl in the video but it was very fun to perform in front of 100's of people and just get the vibe from the people that are there.

Awesome!
I know:
- 3 beat - reverse 3 beat - 5 beat - butterfly (i can do it one handed, too) - mexican wave - corkscrew - 3 beat cork
and... uh, whatever that one is that's like the butterfly, but you push your hands down and forward with each beat.
:D
I learned all of those (expect the 3 beat) within the last month, so I hope I can learn a lot more before Lightning in a Bottle in May!!! Btw... GO TO LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE!!!!

(well all stuffs like this can burn you quite badly..) ps. try staves and other stuff like that, everything is very funny!
Ah, one of my friends used to be into staves and is thinking about getting back into it, so I'll see about bugging him to teach me! I already how to handle a staff from martial arts, but nothing too fancy.

I did juggle with fireballs tho ( with fireproof gloves ofcourse ) Also fire ropes are da bomb once you know how to control them, took me quite some time of practise to really keep the flow going.

I used to practice on and off (though I use glowsticks since they're cheaper) but only managed a total of a few weeks and I only accomplished the most basic moves :<. Glowsticking/poi is a bit esoteric to other people. At my school, we had a flag-cheer team, which did the same moves but with flags, so I was shot down with the notion of being a fag when I tried to inform them =_=. If I mentioned glowsticks instead of poi, then I would be a drug addicted raver... <_<
I've been particularly fond of www.homeofpoi.com for their videos and such. One of their guys who made a bunch of videos in 2007 is the BEST poi instructor I've seen! I got the 5-beat within an hour from watching his video.

Woops!

Awesome! Looks like you have quite a fun group there!
And, omg, firebreathing scares the shit out of me. That is definitely something I will never do.

Firebreathing takes more practise then poi spinning thats for sure, and it's hella more dangerous too. I've burned my eyebrows/nosehair on numerous occassions
But damn it feels good when you burst out a flame tower that's about 6 feet long! The heat just pumps you up when you are doing a show.

Oo looks fun. I don't spin poi but I do have a staff.... :>

During these events, I learned the way of the poi. Try 1 hand 2 poi!

My friend told me a horror story about a professional firebreather coming to his college to show them how to do it, but they used a liquid instead of a gel or w/e he was used to. He breathed just fined, but then tried to talk immediately after and set his whole face on fire.
:x

Ah, those Samurai costumes look freaking awesome!

The only 1-handed poi trick I know how to do right now is the butterfly
