I played Amnesia like 6 months ago and I've recently got the itching to play it again. But really my favorite part about the game was the exploration and the simple puzzles, I got excited anytime I found a room full of stuff I could throw around and scavenge.
While I'm going to play it again, I imagine alot of the fun will be missing because I will already know what I am doing and recognize the atmosphere, so does anyone know of any games that are similar to Amnesia in that way? I liked the horror aspect(even if I personally didn't find it very scary), but it doesn't really need to contain that so I guess what I'm really looking for is like a free roaming point and click adventure if those exist.
Cthulu: Dark Corners of the World. I found it at times a bit creepy but nothing too scary IMO. It's on Steam. Also Silent Hill: Homecoming is on Steam.
Is there any modding going on for Dark Corners? I've still got my xbox version and get the urge to play once in a while (preferably on dark and stormy nights), but if there's a decent mod community I'd hop onto steam and download it tonight.

Call of Cthulhu is a yes and no when it comes to the horror/creepy game genre. The first half of the game is very gripping, much like Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube. However, in the later parts of the game you get a gun and all that creepy, helpless atmosphere goes straight to the toilet. Dayum shame.

Do take this advise with grain of salt because while stealth is important, DCotE is much more combat-based (first person shooter). I don't really recall it having that interesting puzzle segment either.

Yea, but there are little to no games like amnesia, outside of penumbra. I agree that guns take away the helplessness and the fright factor. I wish more survival horror games would implement this "helplessness" mentality ie Resident Evil. "Flesh eating zombies no scary cuz I got Rocket Launcher!!1eleven"

Yes yes yes yes. Penumbra is just what you were searching for. 1 and 2 are the best parts, 3 not as good as the old ones but playable.
My favourite is 2 (Penumbra:Black Plague i think), shit my pants playing it at night. You should play them in the right order (first 1 then 2) otherwise too much spoilering etc. It's really worth it.
I remember an old game on the GameCube that used to scare the crap out of me called Eternal Darkness, not sure if it's for other consoles but gave me the heeby-jeebies.

It's GameCube only and sadly the developers seem to have a crippling fear of money and success. They followed up Eternal Darkness with the much more terrible Too Human and intend to make that one a trilogy.
