So I have been wanting a new keyboard for a while now.
I am currently sporting the Steelseries Merc Stealth, which is amazing for FPS games...but thats about it.
No seriously, it constantly hurts my wrists and normal qwerty keys are rather stiff, like 1990's microsoft keyboard stiff.
And while its nice and glowy and cool...I dont play much FPS anymore, and for the past 2 years have basicly played nothing but Sc2 and LoL.
SO!
I have a few keyboards lined up and kind of want a second opinion.

Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealth [Link]

Steel Series 7G [Link]

Steel Series Stealth [Link]

Logitech G510 [Link]

EDIT: Added Das Keyboard [Link]

EDIT2: Added Thermaltake Tt eSPORTS MEKA G1 Mechanical Professional Gaming Keyboard [Link]

If you personally own one of these and can lend any insight to your opinion on them that would be great.

Add Das Keyboard to your list if you're going to spend decent money on a keyboard you may as well get the best

Steel Series Stealth/Shift (you said one linked the other) and the Logitech G510 are more flashy than functional. Chances are you'll find them as stiff as your Stealth Merc or at least not significantly better.

I'd recommend the Razer, 7G, Das Keyboard, or a Filco keyboard for something that's going to give you a great feel and long lifespan for the cost. Just be aware that mechanical keyboards are louder than their rubberized cousins.

I agree with this. Das all the way. But out of your list I'd go with with the SS7G. If you are going to spend a lot on a keyboard it better be mechanical and the only razer keyboard I had died before 2 years.

Do some research into mechanical keyboards. If you spend a lot of time on the computer you might as well be typing on something comfortable. I have a Leopold tenkeyless with brown switches and it's the best thing ever!

After a lot of research, I decided on going with this keyboard. I am really happy with it. I have had it for a few months and there aren't any issues at all.

A lot of people would have you killed for looking to throw down big money on a keyboard and it not be a mechanical. I can tell you from first hand experience that mechanical keyboards are as awesome as everyone tells you they are, and are in a league of their own when compared to their mushy membrane counterparts.

That being said, you'd do well to look into the mechanical keyboard thread right here on TL, where some very informed people have posted some great information on the matter. On your list, the 7G is a fantastic keyboard, and the Blackwidow is a very good keyboard that many have complained about due to what feels like inferior build quality. I own a regular Blackwidow and don't feel that way, but a lot of the critics know much more than I.

An earlier poster in this thread (Logo) mentioned how a couple of the keyboards you listed are going to feel as stiff as the one you have now, and he is pretty much on target with that assessment. His recommendations are also very good. Good luck with your search, and be sure not to settle on anything without doing all of the proper legwork; you have to type on this thing for the immediate to unforeseeable future.

If you want the brown switch instead of blue but don't want to spend 150+ for Das keyboard. You can get http://www.amazon.com/XArmor-U9-Cherry-mechanical-keyboard/dp/B004S86PBS. This is a re-brand of a Korean company but it's pretty much the same. I'm using one right now and I love it.

150+?

Das Keyboards are 135 max, and if you are a student, you can get the student discount which brings it around 100$ total.

I used to use a razer keyboard. After plugging it into the computers at MLG it malfunction and randomly turns on/off since. I don't recommend them. I decided to go for a Das. I have had any problems since. I heard steel series is pretty good as well. I recommend the das.

Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless with brown switches is what I've been using for seven months and I highly recommend it if you're willing to spend the $140.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WOF7QM

If you're interested in that board but you're looking for something cheaper, I suggest the Leopold (full or tenkeyless) since it's $110 and almost the same build quality.

http://www.elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold

I highly recommend brown switches for both typing and gaming but do some research before buying anything of course. Geekhack Forums is a good site to visit. http://geekhack.org/index.php

As I'm editing my post, I noticed the Leopold Tenkeyless with reds is for $90 which is a damn good price.

i just bought steelseries 6gv2 which is essentialy the 7g and I love it. the keys have a really nice feel to them and it's looking really sturdy. also it doesnt have any of these shiny, flashy and useless features which is a big +.
imo you should try out and decide on what kind of mechanical switches you want before choosing the keyboard itself..

I really don't like all the "gaming" keyboards. They have all those excessive details and plastic, it's really ugly. Get a filco, it's the best quality, you can choose among lots of switch types, and they've got simplicity and elegance.

I have the Das silent with the Cherry MX Browns. This thing is amazing and I'd totally recommend it for gaming. I have a few friends that got blue switches for gaming and stopped using them because they didn't like the way it felt with gaming, but to each his own.

Still, you can't go wrong with any keyboard with brown switches. I'd personally stay away from the keyboards marketed for gamers and go toward ones marketed for quality.

What league are you in? As I explain in my own blog, I really don't think it's necessary to have an expensive keyboard if you're below high masters

its not necessary to have an expensive keyboard if you're in GSL code S either, but if he wants a nice keyboard and he has the money then he should buy one :T

I currently have the das with blue switches in them. I really didn't think that the difference would be all that noticeable, but I was wrong. It feels a lot better. I'm also typing faster because it requires less force to do a keystroke. The keyboard is made pretty well. Also I love the sound. I recommend you get the das.

I'm using a Zowie Celeritas, I love it so far. Had Razer BWU and enjoyed it for quite a long time but the Celeritas is by far better for the money in my opinion. gL ^_^

Quality > "Gaming"

Have a Daskeyboard silent ultimate. (No key engravings is pretty cool)

Blackwidow, while neat looking and indeed mechanical, has the Macro keys on the left, so the positioning of the whole keyboard is skewed to the right, and the ctrl key isn't the left-most key on the keyboard - you'll be recommended to pull the M5 out, like others do. Getting used to it, I expect, will be frustrating. Furthermore few other keyboards have such a layout.
Not hating on Razer, I have a Razer mouse/pad. But for the keyboard, das [blue or browns you choose] is my recommendation.
