EPTSo here it goes, I started off today at 14 silver. I was very enthusiastic and confident after only two days of owning the game rise so high. I played around.... 9(?) games. I destroyed all the zerg I play, and losing to all my protoss. (only played one today)
ZvT matchup: I consider this my worst. I played two games, the first one I lost. I don't know how to counter the MMM build, so I massed roaches/hydras. It worked well at first, but then he stomped my army into the creep. The other game I won, but he never made SCVs, and tried blocking off MY ramp with 3 supply depots.
ZvZ matchup: This is by far my best. I only lost once in a ZvZ today because I misclicked and sent all my banelings into like 4 zerglings. (Ouch) My baneling/zergling force was far superior until that point. I out-macroed him and out-microed him up until that point. Once my baneling went kaboom, I started getting down on myself, saying how stupid I was for that. I scouted his spire a little afterwards. I then proceeded to keep going roaches instead of putting up a spire of my own or hydra den. After realizing my mistake, I started getting even more mad at myself. I knew I had to attack then, or lose. I put up a hydra den, and sent my force of roaches to attack. he cleaned up that attack with, and then stomped my army into the creep. After this game I took a long break before laddering again today.
ZvP matchup: I'm as lost in this matchup as in ZvT. I don't recall the game very well. I massed roaches/hydras and a few corruptors to counter his colossus. He just out-played me. his stalkers killed my roaches/hydras/corruptors and then brought his colossus to finish the job.
All in all, I went up from rank 14 to rank 5. I am proud of the way I played in the games I won, and learned I shouldn't get as frustrated at mistakes because everyone makes them. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it. Stay tuned for later blogs.
