The people that comment saying its WoW in space have not played the game and are just assuming. I have tried many MMO's and this is my first MMO I could really get sucked into and will hit level cap ever.
I tried WoW, disliked it quit, I played LOTRO off and on getting to lvl 33 and not playing again, SWG hit 38 stopped playing a few others as well but those are the big 3 I played or tried to and just couldn't get into

Seriously, even older games had that. It may be a small thing for some, but it somewhat lowers the immersion into the game. Star Wars was always meant to be an epic experience, and small details like that would be simply awesome.
To be fair, this is hardly the same thing as doing a day/night cycle for a game like WoW. Consider that different planets have different day/night cycles due to the differing arrangements of their star systems, and that they have to manage all of them separately, but keep them in tune with one another.
Probably not that hard to manage, but somewhat time-consuming to develop the appropriate assets for day/night on every planet.

I did reply. Check the last post of the previous page.

I haven't really noticed the lack of day/night myself, but now that I think about it, this is definitely something that would take immersion a step further... you could even have different night skies on various planets.

Thanks for the writeup, was indeed valuable information for someone who hasnt decided yet ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm still not sure as I just dont think I have the time to commit the way i want, but if it's "possible" or worth it to play only for the storyline at a casual level maybe I'll pick it up.

It's definitely possible to play as a casual and just enjoy the story. At this point it may even be the best way to play the game, since end-game seems to be somewhat lacking from what I've heard... or it could just be vocal minority. I'm definitely in no hurry.

I guess some were lucky with servers, my guild got assigned to "Darth Revans Mask" a german server, in the pre-order time and started out playing there. During 17.-20. december the queues were kinda tolerable.. got place 500 once, waited 2 hours while playing sc2 - annoying... then the release came around, 1300 on the first day I came home from work -> 5 hours... no thank you Oo no time for that shit in the evening (I always left it open in the background and did something else so this is the actual wait time, not the "1 hour estimated").
Then someday I had to activate my subscription, I wanted to... but I couldn't -.- site down 2 days I couldn't play, now I'm fed up and won't play it for a while.
I really liked playing it even though the combat feels clunky like you and Kipsate already said. The game itself is good.. I'd recommend it, in a month or two

I've been playing SWTOR, and so far enjoy it (republic smuggler, about level 32 at the moment). Question: I remember seeing some posts about TL guilds in other mmo's, are there any you guys are aware of? (and preferably on my RP-PVP server, Ven Zallow?) Thanks! ~Duncan Idaho

i played tor for 3 days and stopped its incredibly boring

I didn't renew after the first month.. my experience was that if you enjoy single player style rpgs with a riveting story this game is perfect for you.. however, I'm very competitive and love pvp + community and that is something this game lacks dearly.. it feels like a single player game.. (50 sith assassin)

50 Jedi Sentinel and 36 Imperial Sniper to give the game a try. My impressions are...let's just say this game will be free to play (or next to no subs) within 12 months. It's awful.

I'm not aware of any TL guilds on RP-PVE/PVP servers. There were several TL guilds advertised in the SW:ToR thread in the games forum, so I suggest you look there.

I did subscribe for an extra month, but I have to say, there is truth in what you say. At this point I have a 50 sorc, 35 operative, 35 assassin and 44 marauder and as much as I like their individual stories (the inquisitor storyline especially) the game just doesn't feel like an MMO... there is little sense of community. That, plus the random drop based PvP rewards are a huge turn-off for me. I don't want to pass judgement on where the game will go from here... I'll probably keep playing for the month I subscribed and try to keep things as interesting as possible. After that though... I'll probably just go back to SC2 and wait for Guild Wars.

Heh, it's a shame that you chose what are probably the two most frustrating classes to play and base your experiences on

Well, I played Star Terk Online (STO, if you even bother to accredit it with an acronym), and was not impressed, even though I had a lifetime CE sub, yet it became free to play fast... I'd say it reaally sucked, as you didnt need a group unless you wanted super easy mode... However, thus far, I've enjoyed the game(SW:TOR), there's plenty of multiplayer content, although I do wish the alignment and social items were more exciting, though I think they have a decent amount of material at both low level and high level, as well as several "heroic 2-4" group side quests, the flashpoints (instances), and they have high level ops (raids) and world bosses, all of which encourage group play. The one thing I'd like though, is more guild tools, such as guild bank, maybe town halls, and maybe starbattle pvp (so far I'm only aware of single player starbattles). However, I think that it's off to a good start, and assuming more patches fix some of these issues, and it becomes mod-able, I can see this becoming the next WoW, and I must say I'm liking this better than WoW, and Ragnarok, and STO. One game that may hold a fire to it, is Eve, which I think is hard to beat, and I may still go back to it if I get tired of SW:TOR... Time will tell! :D ~DI

Good review.
I'm honestly glad you made comparisons to WoW, coz lets face it, if you played MMOs you probably played WoW at some point.
