Hey guys, so I have figured it was about time that the lesser leagues got a little more spotlight! I mean we play a lot of games, and we deserve to be recognized, we deserve to feel like a pro!
So I am creating a invitational for those in the probably most ignored league of them all, Platinum. It will be formated in a very interdasting way. Depending on the number of players I get (10 or 20) we will have a pool play in which only 8 players make it out, and who they face will depend on their positions in the pool.
The best part is, there will be a nice sum of cash on the line. We are debating over a 100$ or 200$ prize pool, which is quite a lot for a platinum league tournament. But to be sure we have no cheaters or anything, I will be personally selecting the participants to only invite those I trust, so it will not be open to the public, to prevent smurfing.
It will be streamed entirely, and we will structure it in a way that there will be no need for probe rush games to be casted The date is not set yet, but most of the players have been chosen for the invitational, even if they don't know it yet :D
The cool new idea we are trying out in this tournament is splitting everyone into groups of two at the beginning and they will actually get some money depending on how your team-mate does. So if both team-mates make it to the finals, each will get an extra sum of money. Or if one gets to the finals but their partner loses first round, he still gets some money. Though I doubt this idea would ever be used in the pro scene, I figured it would be cool having the team-mate cheering on until the better end.
We also plan on having mini profile videos of each player, so you can get to know the players early on, and cheer for your favorite platinum leaguer. I will be participating in the tournament along with casting it, so I will have another one of the players cast the matches that I am in. (Reminds me of Grubby winning the Grubby invitational )
I hope you all look forward to this fun tournament, and I will post more about it when everything is solidified!
Much Luv

With a $200 cash prize for a platinum and under tournament, you're going to have to work pretty hard to make sure that the winner isn't just some masters with a smurf wishing he could win hundreds of dollars in a master's level tournament.

He adressed that. Inviting players he knows are Plat. T_T

I'll probably be casting for the most part, unless I can find a dedicated caster that I trust :D

So basicly you pick a few of your friends who are in Platinum league and give 1 of them 100-200$? Seems a little weird to me. And like others stated even if you "know" someone to be Platinum they could just ask a friend from diamond or masters to play on their account for a day. People do crazy things for 200$.

I'm in platinum (Ignore my signature) and we've been friends for years now, why am I not invited?
And if you doubt that we're not friends - I know everything about you! You are a DJ, you did that one SC2-remix that even Tasteless plugged on his twitter and ... well ... yeah ... we are friends, trust me.
Jokes aside, good luck!

Its less about people I know and more people I can trust :D I think the most one player can win is like 80$ but its all for people who I play with to get better :D And I hold all right that if someone even seems like they are smurfing that they get d/c
