EPTFor a small update to any (few) people who are reading this who remember what my goal was when i first started, It was to reach gold by Christmas, I made it with 28 days to spare! This is a really awesome thing for me, since I started really nose to the grindstone playing only a few months ago, to already be a gold player, I really think this just goes to show how much dedication it takes to hone your skill in this game, and Im really excited about what Im going to face, the new players, and how I will improve as a player and spectator.
Another big update worth mentioning, I have switched from playing Zerg to Protoss. I guess in the end I didnt feel like i was clicking with zerg enough, I loved the macro abilities and the units (those mutas) but when I played for long periods of time i didnt feel like i was having fun in 2 out of the 3 matchups. While I loved ZvT to death, ZvZ gave me fucking nightmares, and ZvP seemed unplayable.
I could just sum up how i switched to protoss but I think you all deserve alittle more than that. After I threw Zerg by the wayside, I decided to take up terran again. It was enjoyable for a bit, knowing that TvP could be won by using my E key and a moving 90% of the time. But again when I realy looked at it, i wasnt enjoying playing terran either, I didnt feel like i was having fun when i was laddering. I was in a rut, so I decided to take a break from playing starcraft for awhile, and began watching streams more. My frist real draw to protoss was watching Chad Motherfucking Jones play along with Incontrol and HuK. Watching those three play the game was amazing, especially HuK, it seemed like he knows protoss on a level that few do. While I finally decided to race switch to protoss, I still didnt touch the game for awhile, and decided to learn builds by heart, writing them down in a notebook I brought to my classes so that i would never forget them (along with unit counters and build counters). In a way i like to think i studied the race before even touching it. When I did play, I felt like I clicked so well with the race, like I understood more than any else. I began winning like crazy, going on 10-17 win streaks before even dropping a game.Its been really exciting to play protoss and I cant wait until I really start to grasp the race more.
Lastly I would like to mention my experience at MLG Providence. I had the opportunity to go with two good friends since we live just a town over from where it was taking place. I cant even begin to explain how awesome it was walking into a huge convention center Friday night to Naniwa vs MVP on a two huge screens, and a even bigger Center screen, that entire weekend I barely strayed away from the startcraft section, and I got to meet Player and casters like Liquid Jinro,QxG( think thats his clan) Destiny, Eg. InControl, EG. Idra, Mr.Bitter, and Husky. I also got to meet and talk with so many starcraft fans, I was really excited going in about meeting people who were mroe knowledgeable then me since, in my group of friends, im the the most experienced starcraft player. I wont delve to deep into anything that happened unless people really want me to and comment on this.
I think Ive aid more than enough for a necro post, and I will start posting replays along with my blogs so that you guys can see the mistakes i make and help me critique and better myself as a player.
