Entry 2: Macro vs Micro and Hotkeys

Overall my macro has come on leaps and bounds, but im still getting that award supply cap at times which is very annoying and in the early stages of the game seem to get me killed or in a bad situation.

a few rules to keep myself are that I really need to sort of stick to a rule and make sure I follow it, Heck maybe even do what I have heard some Korean programers do and just leave games just to punish the fact I didn't practice what I set out to do. Overlords.. Overlords.. Overlords.. I think if I'm floating a lot of minerals due to the fact i have let my macro slip to help my micro i should over produce them and also throw down a macro hatch. After watching spanshiwa's stream through most of last night (Insomnia it's a pain and a beautiful excuse all at the same time :D) In the mid game it may be better to place the macro hatch next to the gold in case i would need to do any long distance mining and to quick reinforce to my further away hatches.

Another thing I have been wondering about is maybe making my natural my Lair but I don't want to practice doing that on ladder until i have done a few things such as finding out why it's even viable and what the full benefits are and if certain match ups it would be less viable etc etc.

My Micro has bits that I really don't Like about it and most of it revolves around my Hotkeys.. I really can't get out of the habit of binding my queens to 1,2,3 etc etc and it's bad because i generally forget to Hotkey my army. To further this point my favorite type of game style is to use Muta's in my two main matchups (P&T), reflecting on this my overall control and APM could be a lot higher. I could be doing more if I could keep up with the macro in the meantime and it's something that i need to constantly be checking and keeping tabs on SPAM keys if you like.

Hotkeys are actually one of the most useful things ever and I think I'm going for be focusing some time into developing a layout that is useful and easy to use through the next few weeks and give it a test in a couple of practice games until I'm comfortable on ladder.

Decision making is arguably one of the most important things in a game because your decisions ultimately will make or break a game for you. Now not so sound to much like a forum dwelling scrub who quotes things to sound good, my decision making is lacking, by a large amount.

Often when I enter games I don't Exploit my opp builds enough and i wing putting down expo's without proper scouting quite a lot. To put this in match context I recently went into one of my games and decided to based trade him because I thought his army had a lot more anti air where as because I didn't make proper use of my scouting ( even though i flew around his base ;{ ) he base traded and ultimately won quite easily.

To combat this I'm going to get a few pro replays and look at how the players exploit each build and maybe hit some unit test maps to see how strong / weak my builds could be.
