i watched this guy on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/markcrilley#g/c/CD2CF65888663986 and copied him as he done his demonstrations and came out with some much better looking stuff already tho it is pretty random what the end result is like LOL
it is a lot less stressful doing it this way and pretty cool how it all comes together. its really cool to be able to watch someone on youtube as they draw to see the technique of each stroke etc.
ok here they are

its exciting to see what the next thing to learn is and waiting for the brain to figure out how things work as you do them lol
see my previous drawing blog thread for some cool replies from people about how to draw

You definitely got talent. Let me warn you though man when you start out drawing you want to focus on still life and figure drawing with an emphasis on realism. Drawing anime is fun and rewarding in its own way HOWEVER it can build up some pretty bad habits if you build your foundation on that style down the road and seriously impede your ability to progress. I know from personal experience how frustrating it can be getting trapped inside that style of drawing. also lemonwalrus.

nodnod i take your advices to heart, i am just smoking weed and watching a few random vids atm but i understand what you say about anime just being a style of real life and everything is based off real life etc

Um, anime is animation. I'm quite sure you'd say draw manga.

well from what i understand from his responses, hes not exactly himself (in a ELEVATED/UPWARD STATE) when hes drawing so you'll just have to pardon him

You're actually very good. I'm impressed.

Gotta love them large heads man, reminds me of this one old game where all the heads were seriously larger than the bodies, forgot what it was called though, maybe it was animal crossing.

Your talented in the hair part. But the face T_T. Many to improve, the cheeks, mouth, and overall eyes and nose comp.

I don't know if anyone else in this thread has told you, but anime or manga is a stylization. You should only adapt a stylization after you've learned how to draw for "real". Beacuse if you look at a manga, people don't look like that It's fine to draw manga and stuff but you should really learn how to draw people how they really look first .

yeah they have , thanks

yes i know there is a light bulb on her head. no i do not know why

Can anyone go more in-depth why you guys are telling op to draw "realistically" first before drawing animations. I feel its quite vague just saying he'll develop "bad habits" without really telling what these bad habits are and why they are considered bad habits.
|
i think they mean stuff like learning to do things like draw the position of nose or shape of chin WITHOUT understanding why ur doing it like that (which is limiting)
they say go to "life drawing" because all the material for learning stuff is there whereas manga either skips some of it or there just arent "manga tutorials" that go into such depth & explanation

Pretty much what FFGenerations touches on. Manga style is a highly stylized yet realistic style of character drawing which is very much based on realistic renditions of humans. Eyes are larger, noses are vaguer, mouths simpler, light and shadows simplified, clothes simplified, but they're all based on the same shapes, same skeleton forms, same muscle underlays and same character proportions as used in realistic renditions. If one wishes to draw good manga-style, a solid basis of realistic drawing is neccessary to manage proportions, character positions, clothing behaviour and facial expression/muscle movement. Without this knowledge, drawing characters in different situations / poses is incredibly difficult with any sort of realism to their apperance.
That said
A structuralistic approach to drawing can really be a deterrent to some. You shouldn't care too much about all that as long as you're having fun and drawing because you really want to. If you want to incorporate more technical drawing as you go along, then great, jump on it, but don't force yourself to practice in a way that takes away the fun of drawing.
