Hey guys, this took alot of courage but I'd like to introduce 1 of my favorite communities to a music project I hold near and dear to my heart.
Ok, where should I start. I'm the guitar player for a 3-piece rock band called "Shamploo" from West Covina, CA. Yes, you may be thinking to yourself "like Samurai Champloo"? Here is where I say, "almost". We basically took the name "Champloo" and changed the "C" to an "S". You can find the meaning of the name on wikipedia .
Anyways, we've been playing together for about 5 months now and are recording our 1st EP. Some of our biggest influences include: Incubus, Muse, Yes, Radiohead, etc. I invite you all to listen to our 1st track off of our forthcoming EP. Feel free to say what you like/dislike in this thread, I know it can only help me as a musician and us as a band in the long run.
Here are some places where you can find the track: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shamploo/246533702046275?sk=info http://www.youtube.com/shamplootv http://shamploo.bandcamp.com (free download available)
And if you REALLY do ACTUALLY like the song, it would make me no happier than for you to "Like" us on facebook .
If you want to reach me personally, you can do so @: http://www.youtube.com/alee4l sOup.903 on the North American server / http://sc2ranks.com/us/1066004/sOup
Thank you for taking the time in reading my post guys! Enjoy!

The vocalist doesn't sound very energetic, but the song does. The riffs are kinda upbeat and the guitarwork is sick, especially during the solo. The vocalist definitely picked it up after the 3 minute mark, would be nice if he was that energetic throughout the song though
Good tune, I'll keep an eye on your youtube for future songs!

Yeah that definetly is a good start.
The song could use some fine tuning. The bass sounded pretty uninspired/weak/sloppy at times. Vocals are a bit too loud in the reccording, especially as they have this - as HackBenjamin said - unenergetic ring to them. Guitar sounds good.
All in all, I heard some potential here. Keep working on it!

HackBen read my mind. So did sup2h. Awesome song, I vocals aren't bad, I think some of it is just that we are so used to pitch perfect shit we hear on the radio. Anyway, Amazing!

Thanks very much for your feedback! We'll definitely use your critiques in helping us fine tune this song before the EP comes out. You guys made my day .

I feel like the bass is not doing a good job of roundimg out the sound of the song, keeping it full sounding. This could probably be changed by changing the tone of the bass sound, at the moment it doesn't sound full enough. Since you are a three piece band I belive it is very important to pay attention to this.
|
@ Toasted: Yeah I do agree w/ you that the bass might be a little trebly in some spots but it was our 1st time recording w/ the amp + mic so we weren't really expecting it to sound perfect. We'll take note of the bass tone in the subsequent songs, thanks for pointing that out!
|
Hmm. The vocals weren't the best, didn't have that punch. However the rest was pretty good.
|
We got around to changing some things in pro tools today. Among these changes were: adding reverb to the vocal and making the band louder in comparison to the vocals . We hope to re-release the better version as soon as we can!
|
I personally would move the bass a little bit more to the background, and pull the guitar out in front on the track. Sounds nice though
|
I do apologize for the sound levels. I should've done a sound check before I made the video hehe. I will next time!
|
For anyone who cares, we're currently in the process of re-recording this song to fix all of our mixing mistakes, thank you all again for your critiques/comments! If you do like our stuff, please "like" on facebook. We'll be rolling out new tracks in the coming weeks!
