Since quitting FutureShock last week I've been feeling really unsure of my place in the British wrestling community, but being an XWA commentator feels like the right place for me for the future. Those of you on TL who know me know that I've been putting a lot of energy into my VocTerGaming channel on youtube ( www.youtube.com/voctergaming ) and I've been working with a few other members of the general gaming community to promote one another and share viewers, but it's such a saturated community that there's no guaranteed future in it, so it's nice to have XWA every couple of months as a break.
I realise there's not a huge overlap between TL and British wrestling, and I can tell you that the commentary is entirely different. My job as a Starcraft 2 broadcaster is to find and bring you interesting games, attemptign to give a good analysis of the play for the uninitiated, while also trying to impart some of the history of the players and get across the excitement I have for the games and the scene. All of that is on me, four days a week, to keep up the intelligence and energy. XWA commentary is such a contrast to that, just being part of a duo takes so much of the pressure off of me, and it allows me to handle most of what I'm best at, a thing we refer to as 'colour commentary'. While I let Lewis handle calling of the in-ring action, I can focus on the background of the wrestlers, talk about their history and how that affects their performance. It also occasionally lets me bang on about how much better Blackpool is than Morecambe.
More than anything, what this weekend confirmed, and what VocTerGaming confirms, is that my future lays in broadcasting, and that there's nothing I enjoy more (Other than spending time with my fiancee, who will totally read this) than commentating over sports; whether it be wrestling, Starcraft or anything else that grabs my attention.
