Not much going on at work and for some reason skype is pretty empty today..

As everyone knows, I have an all girls team and I'm also part of NA ESL. You can ask me questions regarding that or just w/e comes to your mind.

EDIT: changed "'a lot of male gamers" to "there are many male gamers who" since the first seemed a little over-the-top. I didn't actually run a poll or anything so I thought I'd word it more vaguely. EDIT AGAIN: also I just realized this is kind of a loaded question. I can ask a different one if you'd prefer that lol I don't mean to open a whole new can of worms, so to speak.

I DL'd this big music pack, was listening to it and this song came on. I was all "wtf" but it was kinda funny, so the question is: What's your reaction to this song, and how would you react if someone important in your life (you pick, parents BF grandparents w/e) recognized it immediately and started singng along if they happened upon you listening to it out loud?

In my opinion, I don't think society is big factor. SC2 is a RTS game and the average girl wouldn't be interested in that. I noticed most of the female players enjoys games like Mario, puzzles and such. Consoles like Wii are pretty popular. SC2 is more than a pretty cool looking game and it requires a lot of thinking and technical knowledge of the game. However, the small percentages of girls that do enjoy SC2 are driving away by the community. You need to have thick skin in this community. You are either going to be on the spotlight and get trolled/harassed/judge or stay as low profile as possible. Both options are non sense. PD: no worries ![]()

For example, SlayersEve is currently on the team simply because she is a girl. In my opinion, I really dislike the fact she is brought to the GSTL games. They have stated previously she was recruited based off of her looks and the fact she simply plays the game. They have no intention of playing her when she sits with the team is GSTL games, being that she is a diamond level player. She seems to be a sideshow to me for everyone to look at. Do you find this offensive and degrading to women who can truly compete and not be there because of superficial reasons? This makes me question why they had Torch sitting with Startale even though they never played him. Or introduced him for that matter.

@DisAstro sure! @Carthac I don't find it offensive. Perhaps she was brought to the team because she is a girl and brings more free advertising to the team, or perhaps it was only because they truly saw a potential in her. It is only a matter of time ![]() Each individual is responsible for their own decisions. I don’t judge nor do I feel offended if another female gamer makes inappropriate decisions. There will be always someone doing the wrong thing in the wrong place and giving a poor image to the world. I honestly don’t get stressed about it

2) Women were already into e-sports for a long time. This is not big news. Saying that you are a girl and not a guy is not meant to get attention but to let the community know that there is no more hiding. Girls & boys play sc2, nothing new there. We do get trolled but it is getting better. If you don’t say it, people will find out and then the story will repeat itself lol http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/k29g1/women_in_starcraft_2/c2h2pfs ....It is not rocket science. I mean, take yourself as an example (hypothetical, of course). Clearly we all know who you are already as you're a very prominent figure in the StarCraft II scene. However, even if you weren't you could simply make a blog and mention that you're female and you'd probably become famous overnight. It's no secret that a female gamer announcing she's a female will instantly boost her followers/viewers/etc. Do you think this is fair practice? Or, as a female gamer yourself, do you feel this is a step backwards and causes people to take women less seriously?

I agreed If you post any topic with the title "Girl" in it, you will get over 3k hits in less than an hr. Sad fact It's no secret that a female gamer announcing she's a female will instantly boost her followers/viewers/etc. Do you think this is fair practice? Or, as a female gamer yourself, do you feel this is a step backwards and causes people to take women less seriously? I personally hate that. I got 0 respect for girls that purposely do that but again, that's the minority. And yes, it is a step backward and leave a really bad image to the rest of us. However, between tha or being trolled because you play, I honestly don't know whats worse. The last option is just stay as low profile as possible. Most of us learn how to pretend to be a guy so we don't get noticed. sad sad

I do apologise if this seems a little tactless, but it's better not to befuddle these things with guile.

Supporting the girl community is different from advertising that you are a girl for attention ![]() I used to be a pro gamer, so I know what they have to go through. Like I said before on my teams topic "We are not advertising that we are girls, we are advertising that girls do play games and we can be pretty good at it"

Women in SC vs Men in SC Both parties are right, but you can't generalize like that. ^^ My friend first impression of sc2 community was :" is everyone an *ss in this game?" ( she just said "hi ^.^" in a popular NA channel )
