Because i had so much fun, me and my friends decided to go the full weekend this year.It was not very cheap but was it worth it?
FUCK YES
I honestly can not tell you how awesome it was and how much fun i had. Please go to every event you can, but i am getting ahead of myself.
We started our trip on Thursday morning at 5 o´clock, because the drive would take about 4 to 5 hours. When we got there, there was a huge line outside already where we had to wait around an hour or two.Right after we got in, we were heading for the IEM Stage. We found out that this year, they had 2 Stages.Unfortunately the main stage was right next to the entrance of the ESl area, so people were walking in front of the stage until the matches started and people were sitting right in front of the stage so people could not get through.
But on Thursday most matches were shown on the side stage which was not only too small, to have people sitting on chairs, but there was also the problem that there was not enough space for people to watch even if they sat on the floor, because on one side there were other booths and on the other side there was an ESL Banner partially blocking the view.
Troll Banner
Even though i am sounding very negative, i had a blast the first day watching and it is obviously awesome to have so many people watching, that the space is not enough. We also meet a few people wearing TL Shirts. The next day on Friday we were really excited for the TL meet up and it was awesome. There were so many people . . . just watch:
After a few minutes of talking and getting to know a few people we were heading towards the restaurant:
Arriving at the Cafe thing we ordered food (which was really good) and basically just talked to the people there. It is kind of hard to explain why it was so awesome but let´s just say that at one point i turned around and there was Huk TLO Nazghul sitting behind me and on my way out i passed Tarson Whitera Select Puma . . .

We got to our hotel at like 4 in the morning really exhausted but really happy.
The next day on Saturday we were apparently really lucky, because we got into gamescom right about when they decided to not let anymore people in because there were just too many.
We watched Mc beat mana (which we expected to happen) and then there was the semifinal of Puma vs Socke. There were so many fans for this match.
I read that some people were apparently booing puma, but i did not hear a single person booing so maybe those people were standing in a different place. What really sucked and what really fucking angered me was that some asshole tried to blind puma with a laser pointer. But after a few seconds they called security, which where then standing in front of the players and were looking out in the crowd to find him, which they unfortunately were not able to.
Right after game 2 Take even came on stage and informed that if this were to happen one more time, everybody would have to go and the match would be played without an audience and that people in the crowd should look to their right and left to see if they can spot him.
With that out of the way Saturday evening was amazing! We went to ESL players party which was just awesome.Free drinks, all the players they even showed the ZDF broadcast of the other esport event going on on the big screen. This was probably one of the best evenings of my life.
I met 2gd who is like the funniest person in esports and Carmac who is also just a boss.
For a lot of people this probably does not mean anything but i also managed to get a picture with Athene with was pretty cool.
We also got home really late but we wanted a seat for the finals so we got to gamescom really early in the morning. We watched the Brink finals, which was not as bad as i thought it would be.Then there was the final of air rivals where nobody knew what was going on.And then there was the LoL finals which were okay to watch (thanks to Earll´s commentary ) but they disconnected on the last game 3 times and the last time they disconnected was when the game had been played for like 45 minutes. But fortunately they were able to reconnect and finish the game very quickly after that.
At this point in time there were basically only Starcraft fans left and there were a lot of them. The rest of Gamescom was already closed, so it was basically just the commentators, the players and a sc fan audience which was awesome. There was so much energy in the hall it was amazing. The games were even amazing, because everybody i talked to (even Tarson) said Mc is gonna win no problem. Here is the Ceremony after the matches.
All in all it was one of the best weekends of my life and everyone should come out to these events.
