I'm going to have torrent... It's funny how several times I've tried to do things legally but found that even when I pay for things companies like m$ and apple manage to make it less convenient. I don't mind being a good consumer if they don't fuck me over.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/ http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848 Edit: If you look at the first link, apparently they have a new feature called Internet Recovery, which says if you install a hard drive without OS X Lion on it, and your computer has an internet connection, it can load OS X on it over the internet. One more link with a little more information on each type of recovery option: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 Here's a link to Apple Manuals, with instructions on how to open up your MBP to swap out the hard drive and RAM and instructions on how to use the recovery functions: http://support.apple.com/manuals/#portablecomputers

They have a recovery partition, and you can use an utility to create an external recovery disk on a usb drive and (I assume) use that to reinstall Lion on the new hard drive you're swapping in. http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/ http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848 Edit: If you look at the first link, apparently they have a new feature called Internet Recovery, which says if you install a hard drive without OS X Lion on it, and your computer has an internet connection, it can load OS X on it over the internet.
