A week from now i hope to be streaming and its going to be quite a journey getting there. I am building my computer friday and hopefully have it all set up for streaming by the end of saturday. ill have to do a lot of testing and all that, but hopefully by this time a week from now, itll be officially launched, my very own stream. In the past i kind of questioned whether or not i should stream, if i thought itd be worthwhile / fun. The closer and closer it gets though towards having my computer completed im getting more and more excited.
when i do something i like doing it really well and when i stream thats what im going for. im hoping to stream at a high quality and with content that everyone can enjoy. And until i launch my official stream thread with all the bells and whistles, ill use this blog to kind of log my progress.
so far i have my monitor, gpu, and ram with me, and the rest will come on friday. my total budget ended up being around 550$ and im hoping to be able to stream in high quality so we'll see what happens. For now, you guys can check out my stream with its zero content and give me some feedback on the layout and everything. im doing everything i can to make this amazing :D .

hope you didn't skimp on your CPU, because a quality CPU is the key to good streaming
|
Funny because none of the specs are going to come into play for streaming, really. What matters is your CPU. lol @ mentioning the monitor though.
|
|
you guys asked what i had so far but for CPU im buying a used AMD Phenom II x6 1055t OC'd to 3.6 or 3.8 .
|
Yeah, you should be fine for the most part I believe.
|

Most people can stream up to 720p pretty easily, and you need a really high end computer to stream at 1080p. IMO 720p is just fine, no need to kill yourself or your computer for graphics whores. GL!

Aww... Jiyan, I was thinking you'd stream some BW like the good old days back when you were in OD. It's fine. I'll watch your stream when I see it. It shall be good!

GL! as long as i can keep it really really smooth and not grainy and keep it as high as possible without lagging ill do it as high as possible hopefully i can at least do 720 with all that, and if it works with 1080 then id be a very happy streamer :D

You're going to need a higher upload speed for an enjoyable quality stream.

I disagree, 1mb upload works just fine the quality really isntt bad nor is frame rate. I mean sure no 1080 P stream quality, but you don't need it to be enjoyable lol.
I mean I have .55 upload and my quality is definitely not good, but you can read out what people type, units, resources, supply. Not great quality but definitely see able lol. So I can imagine 3 times better like jiyan has well definitely be nice quality ^^. Again no 1080 P but who cares? don't need 1080P to enjoy a stream.

well ill be playing probably on medium to high settings on starcraft 2 if that makes any difference at all. im hoping to stream at around 25 fps or so so we'll see. 1080p might strain it like you guys said but if i can do it at a high fps then ill do it.
other parts im getting on friday:
GIGABYTE MA-790XT-UD4P LITE-ON Super AllWrite 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive Corsair 550VX Power Supply Unit Antec P180B Mid-tower Case Thermalright Venomous-X CPU Cooler Western Digital Caviar Blue 640GB 7200 rpm Internal Hard Drive (WD6400AAKS)

2 more days and i can't wait. i already positioning my monitor and such to be ready to go once i put in the necessary parts that havent arrived yet.

I'm not sure if you can stream 720p with just 1.5 up. You should be fine at 480 or so but 720 might be stretching it, your upload rate is really your choke, but everything seems super solid.
When Thegunrun hooked up my stream he suggested 5 mb up for 720p streaming, as to not lag any games you're playing at the same time as well, and if you're on skype etc. I'd say the low end to be able to play on ladder and stream at 720p will bel ike 3-3.5 upload, whihc is still much higher than your 1.5, you should be able to hit like 480p like I said.
