Hello,

There is a chance I might go with one of our biggest customer to an event in Boston in september. We are an advertising agency. I'd like to know the places I should take him to if I want him to really remember his time in Boston.

I'm looking for a fancy restaurant / exceptionnal location and exceptionnal food.
And a very nice place to have a drink / music later.

Everything has to be "high-end" if you know what I mean..

Any ideas ?

If he's a baseball fan and you manage to get red sox tickets it would mean more than any restraunt or bar you take him to.

I'd try out something in the Prudential district or the North End for Italian.

Top of the Hub and a lot of places in North End are probably solid choices for fancy restaurants

Sounds like we're talking about your standard 'suit' personality who wants to see all fancy and no crowds. Grab a reservation at the Top of the Hub. Great view that makes you feel on top of the world, with prices that will put you down a monthly car payment. Has a fantastic jazz lounge for the after-drinks, so one stop shopping for you. Also in the middle of pretty much anywhere you'd want to go after if you find something else they'd like.

However, if you're dealing with someone who's a sports fan I'd actually recommend heading south to Foxboro for a Patriots game if at all possible. Patriots Place has everything you need to tailor to their personality. Grab some premium seats to stay away from the crowd, and then hit up D'Avios for dinner afterwards (fancy Italian steakhouse, pricey and keeps the loud fans out). Plan on dinner afterwards so you can avoid the hour long traffic jam that occurs.

I'd only recommend a Red Sox game if they're a baseball fan in particular, as there is no way to avoid crowds in and out of there.

*** For the record, I'm way more of a dive bar / bleacher seat type myself, this is just my advice for your situation. Boston is way more fun when you mix it up a bit.

No problem with mixing things up. As we fly from paris, I doubt we'll go to a sport game as it's not really a french habit I guess ? Plus, we don't even understand baseball over here so..

This. This. Motherfucking this. Maybe I'm just a Smith & Wollensky fanboy but this place is amazing. The place looks like a castle, the food's perfect, and I've never had more amazing service.

Edit: son of a bitch, restaurant week in Boston is 2 weeks before I go back to school. No steak dinner for me this year T_T.

Hahaha yeah amen on the it looks like a castle part. It's a pretty badass place and the steaks are amazing. I've been lucky enough to go a number of times since I moved to boston in 06 and i've never had a bad experience.

Seeing as you'll be coming from France, I definitely recommend Top of the Hub. Easiest to find (its at the top of the Prudential Tower, tallest building in town) and its in the middle of the Prudential Mall, which has hotels and plenty of other high end bars around it. You'd never have to leave the area, which will let you stay away from taxis and getting lost across town.

A dive bar is the kind of place you'd imagine a construction worker would go after work to unwind. Bleachers are the cheap seats at a baseball park, where the 'Bleacher Creatures" (the loudest drunks) sit. I actually find these types of places way more entertaining for a night out, but I don't say no to an invite to the fancier places.
