In an IRC channel earlier, I jokingly said that Brood War is gay. However, TL mod Harem lurks in the channel, and sent me this warning:

A mod made a baseless warning (I didn't do this on TL), and not only that, the mod sexually harassed me. As a loyal poster on TL, I am personally offended, and think that this makes the TL staff as a whole look bad.

As for the judgment, TL's IRC channel is merely a subsidiary of the forums, right? The same basic rules of etiquette apply there. I don't see any problems with Harem's choice.

There are cases where TL members can be banned for something they do outside of this website. This is a community and as such, they are allowed to determine who they want in their community. (Ex: Banning known cheaters from TL)

So you said in another channel outside tl against a mod that BW is gay.
I don't see where the warning is unjustified.
From all the bans I've seen the mods usually use the warned poster's own words against them to let them know how it feels for what they've done/said.
Guess it did work considering you feel offended so you should've learned your lesson not to say such things about a game/community.

Thing is, First commandment of TL very well applies to IRC channel. This is their house and you're a guest, just like me. We guests obey the house rules, hospitality ensues. We don't, ban hammer ensues. That's it.

I agree. In my opinion, Harem could have chosen his words more wisely. Substituting the word "gay" with "homosexual", for instance, would be more politically correct. It's things like this which is hurting ESPORTS.
But let us not forget that Ferrose started it when he called BW gay, an unforgivable transgression.

I'm not staff or anything, but my from point of view, it's a very fine line between blatantly being exaggeratory/comedic and things like this.
This borders on the level of a legitimate complaint (it's preposterous, but there's no indication that you're joking or going beyond the non-fiction).
For Infested Archon, all his writings are explicitly silly and just unlikely. I also believe he doesn't set a protagonist in any of his jokes, so no one's offended or can take it serious or take offence to it.
SirJolt equally does joke blogs and look at the nature of them.

It's like Minority Report, somehow Harem knew that Ferrose was going to post the chat log and decided to preemptively warn him to prevent this blog. However by doing so, Harem inadvertently motivated OP's action and ironically became the cause of what he wanted to stop.

It's kind of a successful troll post in the same way that making a blog post about how your father died of colon cancer yesterday and then on page 6 saying "lol trolled you all!" is a good troll post. A good troll post makes people believe something that, when looking back afterwards, they realize they were dumb to believe at all (e.g. "Texas to ban seatbelts as they interfere with personal liberty"). If it's believable and people believe it, that's just lying, not good trolling. And mods banning people over petty things on TL is entirely believable.
