Having flown in Australia the day before the tournament started, and only being able to go to day two in person because I was pretty much ditching the friend I was staying with to be there, I have to say, it exceeded every expectation!
I wasn't sure about what it would be like going alone, but as has already been said, everyone was as friendly as can be! Random conversations would just begin while you were standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow nerds watching games, and the pros were also very chatty and cool. In fact, surprisingly so. At one point I saw Jinro standing near the schedule screens, and was signing autographs and posing for pictures with starstruck fans. I walked back about half an hour later and he was still standing there, and remained for a lot longer, I'm sure. There were many similar situations to this. I can imagine it wouldn't be easy to stand around chatting to fans in between stressful games, so big props to everyone. It really made my day.
DAT NUKE. I happened to be standing next to ImbaTV's McDuff at the time (who I didn't know anything about because I'm a big noob), and we got chatting at various points during the day. I do believe that nuke made us mates, however! Unbelievable. When we asked Jinro whether he could hear the crowd cheering through the soundproof booths when that bad boy landed, he admitted he could hear it. So I guess that also answers the question about whether the crowd was enthusiastic or not!
I honestly didn't mind standing - I came up the sides of the stages and felt closer to the action, however my feet are absolutely killing me, even after one day! Can't imagine how much pain some of the people are in who were there for the full three are in. No-one's fault though. The message here is get in early and get yourself a seat for the day, or wear better shoes (note: Converse, while baller, are not supportive shoes).
Free Dr Pepper. I think I had about 8 of these during the day. Will let you know if I get diabetes. The only problem here was that the size of the bathrooms was in no way relative to the amount of free Dr Pepper being handed out! It was rare to get into the bathroom with less than 5-10 people lining up, which was annoying, but a necessary evil, I guess!
Thanks to the organisers, players and fans! If you met a big, excited, wide-eyed, Australian noob running around on a sugar high at some point on day two, it was probably me.

one thing that I wish they would of done was just give more space in between each aisle. When having to get out of the rows you had to literally climb over people. It was a real pain in the ass, it seemed like an obvious thing considering when you entered the venue there was so much extra flooroom where you could just push it back a bit.
And also, add more chairs :D

It sounds like those 2 things contradict each other. Adding more chairs would make even less space.
There's probably some fire hazard code they had to follow as well.

I think I remember reading a tweet on the first day in which Sundance said they had reached the fire-safe limit for chairs.

100% will be back for the next one in anaheim
only thing i can complain about is the lack of chairs... standing all day was really tiring and security even made us stand while watching the nonstreamed featured games :\

The really annoying thing was that security made people who brought chairs in pack them up and put them back in the car. For day 3 me and my friends brought in 3 lawn chairs and sat for 1 match and then security threw us out -_-. MLG should really make a bigger effort to make sure there's sufficient seating, they should have put halo/cod in a different exhibition hall or SOMETHING if there really is a fire safety hazard.
Also, watching players in the open bracket was really not as easy as it should have been, it would be much nicer if the open bracket computers were arranged in individual rows so no matter where the person sits you can at least stand behind them and watch.
If the seating issue is fixed I might attend Raleigh, otherwise its just waaaay too difficult to go so far to sit on concrete/stand for a full day. The energy of the live event was awesome and it really doesn't translate well into the online streaming experience but I do value my legs/ass.

I think Anaheim was a great event, except for the subpar seating. Even then, I would not have minded it as much if people were allowed to sit on the concrete during day 2 and day 3.

The difficulty was more that players seated on the inside with their monitors facing away were near impossible to watch. There could still be a divider behind the players giving them a decent amount of space like there was at Anaheim while affording the spectators a decent view if it was arranged differently.

It was really awesome being able to watch the pros play up close. It definitely gave me a new perspective on how ridiculously good some of them are.
LIke a bunch of people said, not enough chairs! The venue had more than enough space to fit everyone, but there just weren't enough chairs people could sit on. The security wouldn't even let us use chairs from the consoles (where players had finished for the night).
If the game on the main stage was broadcast on several smaller monitors it would also help.
But beside the seating issue the event was amazing! I'm definitely going to attend another mlg in the future (possibly as a player even though I would get scraped)

wow, still a seating problem. kinda sucks, but i guess that means they'll just have to get a bigger hall for the next mlg? in a way it's a good problem to have.

Some back story: apparently there is a section of seating in the crowd reserved for players, media, team reps, etc. A redditor's cousin won access to this area through some contest. Upon returning from a bathroom break/whatever they noticed a bald guy sitting in their seats. This bald guy was Sundance. Without knowing, they had asked Sundance to move and he happily obliged, without making it known who he was.
The next time that they get up they decide to leave some personal effects on their seat as a way of indicating that the seat was occupied. I'm told by people that attended MLG that this was fairly common practice. Xeris, when noticing two unoccupied seats, takes it upon himself to displace the items on the seat. When told the purpose of the items he was throwing onto the floor and that those seats were being held for winners of a contest Xeris had this to say, "I won these too ... through hard work."
Really Xeris?
MLG management: respectful members of the community, awesome event all around.

i went the first day and got to sit pretty far in the front, sitting behind incontrol and his gf. it was fun but the games were SUPER short because of korean domination (it was like 20 minutes of games and 45 minutes of waiting.) The background music after games were super loud (like you're at a club). It would've been nice to have some peace and quiet, but we didn't want to lose our seats lol.
i didn't bother going day 2 or 3 because it was REALLY crowded, and we knew there was no chance of getting seats unless you go super early in the morning. If we had to stand far in the back, there gets a point where it's actually hard to watch the games because the projector was far away.
i got to see mma and mvp play up close when they weren't playing on the main stage though, so that was really cool. how often do you get to see a top korean's fpvod? (besides byun streaming or something). they play so quick but efficient, its amazing
bleachers would've been awesome or something along those lines. sucks for the people who have to stand behind people who are 6'5'' and/or 300 pounds lol

Watched Day 1 and 2 without any membership and it was still great. But with the Golden Membership... it was amazing

I was sitting next to Incontrol during day one. In the row ahead of me was the Blizzard crew (Morhaime, Browder, et al). It took me a while to realize that they were special seats but somehow I managed to sit in the front three rows all three days (although I have up my seat to some players on the second day when they were sitting on the floor)
The sound setup could've been better as it seemed like they had only one set of speakers in the front center. I wish they had set up two sets of speakers on both sides pointing in to drown out the Halo and CoD casts from the sides.
All that aside MLG was sweet and if you haven't gone before you should definitely head out to one when there's one happening near you!

Sundance is a cool guy and gotta give props to him for running MLG so smoothly. Yeah, MLG had some rocky events, but they've been improving each time.

If this is truth Sundance's attitude is the reason MLG success and Xeris (we need his side of the story) is the reason NASL isn't doing so well, they doesn't understand customers and how to run the business.

NASL is doing fine, technical bumps were the main reasons they lost some interest. The fact that it's drawn out in a season means they won't be hitting maximum viewers every day but will receive spikes when fan favourites are playing.
Attitude honestly has nothing to do with NASL "failing" or MLG being a success. The reason it's a success is because hardwork is put in and they do a good job on the technical scene.
