Playing poker in Ohio

I have been ITCHING to play poker for a while now ever since the big sites got shutdown. I'm still constantly reading and rereading my Super System, Green/Blue books (Phil Gordon's work) and browsing various forums to stay current.

But I'm missing the biggest factor of them all - playing.

I don't know of any card rooms in Ohio...or rather "clubs" where the only member benefit is poker hahaha

Anyone in Ohio wanting a game or know of club to go play at? I'm not going to even waste my time with the free online rooms that are available in the United States now

I'm not above driving to west Virginia, but I'm not about to drive there on the reg. to get some hands in.

Any tips for you United States/Ohio kids who have a bug but live in a no casino state?

u can play on merge, the ceo (i think, top guy anyway) frequently posts on lp

What is that? is it an online room or is it like a proxy client?

Hero Poker is an online-room that is a part of the Merge Network. As far as I know, Merge still accepts US customers, though with the recent takedowns of Stars/FullTilt/etc, it's probably not wise to invest serious sums in online poker until some future legislation is passed.

Yeah I would invest a limited amount simply to get myself playing again and thinking poker again.

I'llcheck out that site

I have that itch too, but I'm taking a year off from it, keeping my grades high (trying to turn 3.77 into 3.85+), and gonna try to go to grad school in England or Canada so I can keep playing poker as a hobby if it doesn't get legalized in the US. I have no intentions to go pro or anything, but it was the one hobby I really loved.

SC2 is great too, don't get me wrong, I figured I'd try it out after watching Destiny's stream while grinding, (which is -EV) but it doesn't compare to poker really.

Kiwi says SC2 is more fun so I'm gonna try to get to diamond/masters next season to see if maybe you just need to play at a high level for SC2 to be as enjoyable.

Just make sure to be responsible guys, I saw a lot of people in the LR thread for Kiwikaki's wsop run saying they want to get into it now but I highly encourage people to get their research done and sign up for (liquidpoker specifically) rakeback programs before touching live games or making accounts on websites.

I've played a bit before. Was about a break even/slightly losing player. I understand basic concepts, it's just one of those "need to do it more" kind of things.
