I dunno. I'm not good at this. Lemme change that.

This makes me think about the first "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" when they lose the people half-way through transporting. "We got what was left of them, sir"

The warpgate doesn't use up a warp-in so I assume the stalker's safe and sound?

yeah i think you don't lose the cash so the stalker just cancels the warp maybe?

Trying to slowly out run a marauder with no chance of escape sounds like a more horrible death to me.

Well, it's a one-way warp, so half of the stalker is on one side of the warp, the other on the other.
They can just warp-in another group of stalkers since the warpgates still have enough energy, but that specific stalker could be quite dead... and not have died in a nice way.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is how it is. It makes me giddy when I catch DTs mid warp, SUFFER ETERNAL AGONY YOU INVISIBLE NINJAS!

Imagine you're a baneling. Not only is life horrible (and occasionally dizzy), but the best you can hope for is to die painfully for your uncaring leader. You also have no personality, no indibiduality and no appreciation for the human (zerg?) condition.
Enjoy!

I don't think blowing up and having a near instant death is painful....

But the moments before that would be traumatizing if the banelings would survive.
Imagine: You are a baneling, rolling around on the creep, playing catch with Banelings and those pesky, cheating, winged Zerglings. You learned to control not to blow up at random, have some success with the female banelings and in general have a happy life... when suddenly the voice of your overlord sounds in your head "I AM ASSUMING DIRECT COMMAND" and then you can only watch through your eyes how your limbs start moving on their own, taking you far away from the other banelings that watch in horror, not knowing what is going on. You feel the acid in your body boiling up while your legs steer you towards a group of scared looking beings. You don't want to blow them up, you want to get to know them, meet their families, play with their children,... you try to resist the overlord, you try to calm down the acid with all the willpower you have, you think about the date you had this afternoon that you will now miss, try to muster enough willpower to break the control... but nothing helps, the power of the overlords is too big... zerglings and banelings dying all around you... you are scared, you don't want to die, you want to go to the date, have a family, children, a zergling as pet... but it's too late... BOOOM!

The Stalker survived the Warp-in cancel, so if I were him I would honestly be pretty happy that I didn't have to deal with those Mutalisks. Your blog was well-written, though making the character nervous or scared before going into battle isn't very realistic. For Aiur!

Actually since the money for the stalker gets refunded fully in that case, I think the warpin is aborted and the stalker gets to stick around to get warped in later.

being surrounded by SCVs and slowly taken apart is surely the most horrible way to die.
