- Made a switch from Terran to Protoss. For many obvious reasons, I am finding the mechanics for Protoss much easier to learn and began to learn how much army positioning can change fights for you.
- Did some (very brief) replay analysis where I identified a few times where I could have built things earlier.
- Slowly but surely improved. I haven't reached the Gold League yet (Still Rank 1 Silver) but I have been taking down highly ranked (top 8) Gold opponents on ladder.
My (recent) winrate on ladder, mostly playing as Protoss.
LESSONS I HAVE LEARNED
- Army positioning makes a lot of difference, you will almost never want your Stalkers at the front of your army, else they will be sniped, probably by Roaches, Marauders, Immortals, Colossus or other Stalkers. Hence, I have made some pretty big changes to my play and both researched Blink first instead of Charge and kept Stalkers on a separate control group and behind the rest of my army (Reason being that it would be much easier to Blink any Stalkers into some Vikings or Corruptors and because I need Zealots and Sentries at the front for forcefields and tanking damage with Zealot numbers.
- New control group hotkeys are really hard to get used to. I used to have my entire Protoss deathball on one hotkey until I began thinking about army positioning. It has been very worthwhile to me though.
- My improvement process was going to take a very, very long time.
