When people deal with emergency situations, they react in accordance to their most instinctive nature. I find this to be fascinating and so I've rewatched an old movie called Sphere the other day:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphere_(film)

A small summary of it would go something like this:

In the middle of the southern Pacific Ocean, a thousand feet below the surface, what is believed to be an alien spacecraft is discovered after a ship laying transoceanic cable has its cable cut and the United States Navy investigates the cause. The thickness of coral growth on the spaceship suggests that it has been there for almost 300 years. A team made up of marine biologist Dr. Beth Halperin (Sharon Stone), mathematician Dr. Harry Adams (Samuel L. Jackson), astrophysicist Dr. Ted Fielding (Liev Schreiber), psychologist Dr. Norman Goodman (Dustin Hoffman), and a member of the U.S. Navy (Peter Coyote) are tasked with investigating the spaceship. The team (along with two navy technicians) are housed in a state-of-the-art underwater living environment called the Habitat during their stay on the ocean floor. Upon entering the spaceship, the team makes several discoveries. The first is that the ship is not alien, and that it is in fact an American spaceship. They assume, due to the years of coral growth and advanced technology that the ship is from the future. The last date in the ship's log, 06/21/43, does not indicate the specific century. The last entry in the log details an "Unknown (Entry) Event", which depicts the ship apparently falling into a black hole, resulting in its trip through time. The ship's mission involved gathering objects from around the galaxy to bring back to Earth. An item of particular interest is a large, perfect sphere in the cargo hold. It is suspended a few feet above the ground and has an impenetrable fluid surface which reflects its surroundings but not people.

I know there's tons of other stories and fiction out there about similar crises with limited supplies/resources which include: being trapped in outer space, stuck deep under the depths of the ocean, or even being stranded in a familiar setting, but with dangerous human/environmental factors.

Post here the stories or fiction you know. Preferrably a book or movie, but even nonfiction works would be great!

So this is where you've been :<

i kid i kid, I haven't been on msn in a while =/
If you watch Godzilla backwards it's about a benevolent lizard who helps rebuild a city and then moonwalks into the ocean.

Actually not even, you've just not been on at all :o

Anyway, post some good survival fiction you know. I'll post another one here:

Movie called Poseidon:

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poseidon_(film)

This one's about a grand cruiser that, in short, gets hit by a wave and capsizes. Almost titanic-like. A small group of guests must navigate their way through the damaged, upturned ship to make it out alive.

There's so many stories like these, I find them all very interesting.

The best survival story I've ever read is a short story called "A Pail of Air" by Fritz Leiber. You can read it here, as part of a compilation called The World Turned Upside Down. The other stories in the compilation available online (hit the next link in the top left corner to see the stories available) are also really good, although not in the survival vain as such.

I guess a classic would be Lord of the Flies although it's really about humanity as a whole. There are also quite a few which create an outside threat like a monster or something, e.g. The Thing, The Mist. A pure survival movie thata came out recently is "127 hours". I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, so maybe Robinson Crusoe would be a possibility?

Aliens could be considered a "survival film" I guess, sorry I don't really know a lot of them. On a side note though, Sphere was actually a really entertaining movie if I remember correctly. I suppose you could go into the more "psychological" side of survival in Let The Right One In, but it's not really physical like Lord of the Flies is.
Have you considered the MMO-Champion forum? You are just as irrational and delusional with the right portion of nostalgic populism. By the way: The old Brood War was absolutely unplayable
