I've been having this problem for around 4 years now. Basically I get bad blocked/running noses during the day, and REALLY itchy eyes at night. I can handle the nose issues, but I rub my eyes at night while I sleep, and wake up every night at 2-3am with really really swollen and painful eyes. After which I can't sleep for an hour or two while I let my eyes settle down.
Obviously this is extremely disruptive to my life. I've been to the doctor and he's given me anti-histamines, which does absolutely nothing for me. I have no idea what's causing these reactions. I've done countless clean-ups of my room, sunned my bed to kill dust mites etc.
Anyone have any special tips to help deal with such allergies? Such as air filters, humidifiers/de-humidifiers etc etc. Obviously moving out of the house is kinda out of the question =P

Are you stressed out over long periods of time?
I had a problem a year ago where my allergy/cold symptoms just wouldnt go away for a good 5 months (which to me is extreme), and a lot of people told me one of the contributing factors was probably the immense amount of stress I was under at the time.
As for medicines or anything... I'm someone who avoids medicine, pills, chemicals in general if I can help it. I never take medicine. But when I got sick, I took Claritin and it worked like a charm.

On the contrary, this only happens to me when I'm home for my summer holidays. No issues when I'm abroad studying lol.

Its probably a local plant that has pollen / crap in the air around your home, which is why your allergies are acting up only when you're at home. Basically your options are: - deal with it - over the counter meds - see a doc - move - murder every living plant that only grows around your home - wear a dust filter/gas mask everywhere

First of all see a doctor. You'll get better allergy medicine/pills to take for the worst condition. Take allergy tests to see what causes all of this.
If you are a smoker, stop it or at least reduce it a lot. I've been allergic almost my whole life, taking some pills if it gets worse. got diagnosed with "seasonal asthma" last year and go a inhaler, though never have used it. Can't really live with any animals because of this, so if you have cat or dog or whatever, you should once again, see a doctor. if that is the case, well bad news my friend..
Oh, and if you live in a area where is alot of trees etc which spreadouts pollen alot, you better clean your room more often if you have windows open most of the time. Helps for me to sleep better and just live better in my room. (and i see that you've done this, good.)
But really, see a doctor. It's fucking awful to live like this without any help that works.
e:, and my mother uses this. Helps her alot when shes sick or having allergies. Yes, i know it looks ridiculous.

Basically you fill it with warmwater and salt? if i remember right. And do what the woman does in the 2nd picture. It doesn't hurt or anything, its just messy. But every doctor recommends it for allergy and flu. ^_^

For me, reactin/claritin worked pretty decently for me, though the side effects were quite annoying (frequent nosebleeds). And the warmwater/salt thing supposedly works really well, except i found it weird to put stuff up my nose =P so i never tried it myself.

I moved into a shitty rental house which required a LOT of cleaning prior to moving in. After sleeping there for a week my throat eyes and nose itching like crazy. I assumed it was my normal seasonal allergies kicking in early. Until I tried sleeping in a different room and felt entirely better overnight. Later found mold or some kind of fungus growing on the inside of the door leading to the porch that my bed was against.
If your allergies are due to your current environment try and figure out what is prompting them. You can go to an allergist and they will expose you to different things to see what you are allergic to and then after knowing that you can try and identify the source. Either way, good luck cause that shit sounds nasty.

You can see the allergy department of your healthcare plan to get tests to see what specifically triggers your allergies. Hope you get better, I've had really terrible eye allergies and still some skin allergies so I know your pain .

I got a test where they prick you to see what you're allergic to. Then I had the doctors combine all of the things that gave me allergies (in small doses), and I took shots of that substance over a long period. Now, I am invincible!!!

I'm suffering the same curse (probably not as bad as you) To ease the allergy, Zyrtec and Claritin work very well.

Wow. I never knew such a thing existed. Will look into it. Seems like claritine helps most people. I'll try it out again. Thanks guys! ^^
