How to Improve as an Observer

IVFearless United States165 Posts June 24 2011 17:32 GMT #1 A very interesting twitter conversation confirmed that I am not the only one who is a bit disappointed with the current level of camera control among many casters with a good bit of exposure. Being an aspiring caster myself I know how hard it is to maintain a stream of good commentary while moving around the screen smoothly and catching all the action going on. Because it is such an important skill to master I think I'll go practice it I would like to hear what you think makes a caster good at camera control. How can I train myself to be better at it? In that spirit I am going to be practicing and streaming for the next lots of hours. At least 6. I'm probably going to be playing a bit (gotta practice my macro) and casting some of the Dreamhack games. Come join me --> My Stream **EDIT**SC2 just stopped working for me. Completely. Again. Very frustrating problem. When I load it up, it simply freezes. Reinstall here I come. So, as you can imagine, my stream will not be up today This blows. **Edit**Sweet, got it back up and running. Come watch me stream! **Edit** and back down.... Does anyone know, is Battlenet having trouble?

On a more serious note, I don't think there's any answer other than an ambiguous and/or obvious one, and you probably already know all of them (train yourself to glance at the minimap regularly etc.). If you're already disappointed with the level of camera control among casters, then you probably have a very good idea what mistakes to look out for.
