Gave up on Terran as I'm below Bronze level with them. Back to laddering as Protoss. 103 Bonus Pool. Rank 10 Silver 1014 points.

Game 1 vs Protoss on Backwater Gulch. Rank 41 Silver 799 points. Loss.

Game 2 vs Protoss on Delta Quadrant. Rank 3 Gold 0 Points. Win. Had to be his 5th placement match as he was in a 4 person Division.

Game 3 vs Terran on Shakuras Plateau. Rank 30 Silver 367 points. Loss. I'm so bad I lost to ONE drop on my main.

Game 4 vs Terran on Metalopolis. Rank 23 Silver 427 points. Win.

Game 5 vs Zerg on Delta Quadrant. Rank 16 Gold 940 points. Win.

Taking a break and maybe done for the day. 3-2 so far. Rank 7 Silver 1070 points.

June 11th

I was done for the day yesterday. I log on today and I am Rank 9 Silver 1070 points.

Game 1 vs Random(Protoss) on Metalopolis. Rank 25 Gold 0 Points. Possibly his 5th placement match. Win.

Game 2 vs Zerg on Metalopolis. Rank 2 1094 points. Loss against a 6 pool all-in cheese.

Game 3 vs Random(Terran) on Slag Pits. Rank 41 Gold 131 points. Loss

Game 4 vs Zerg on Shakuras Plateau. Rank 7 Silver 1033 points. Win

Not exactly playing well so I'm done laddering for the day. I finish the day Rank 6 Silver 1100 points. I do have a 53 Bonus Pool.

June 12th

I start the day Rank 8 Silver 1100 points. I have 63 Bonus Pool.

Game 1 vs Terran on Delta Quadrant. Rank 40 Gold 374 points. Win.

Game 2 vs Protoss on Metalopolis. Rank 13 Gold 656 points. Loss. Got in-base pylon rushed into cannons. Hadn't seen it before and got destroyed. Bad decision making on my part for sure.

Game 3 vs Random(Zerg) on Scrap Station. Rank 7 Silver 1021 points. Loss. I played really sloppy. Guess I was on tilt from the cannon rush.

Game 4 vs Protoss on Delta Quadrant. Rank 45 Silver 390 points. Loss. Just got outplayed.

Game 5 vs Protoss on Scrap Station. Rank 49 Silver 154 points. Win.

Game 6 vs Zerg on Delta Quadrant. Rank 1 Bronze. 1317 poins. Loss. Guy has 2500 wins.

Game 7 vs Terran on Delta Quadrant. Rank 9 Silver 1021 ponts. Win.

Game 8 vs Terran on Metalopolis. Rank 43 Platinum. 226 points. Loss. What the hell am I doing playing a Platinum?

Game 9 vs Protoss on Shakuras Plateau. Rank 12 866 points. Loss.

Game 10 vs Protoss on Shattered Temple. Rank 3 Silver 1081 points. Loss.

Game 11 vs Zerg on Metalopolis. Rank 16 Silver 895 points. Loss. I can't do shit right today.

Game 12 vs Random(Protoss) on Metalopolis. Rank 32 Gold 433 Points. Loss. Dt's cost me a game I had won.

3-9 means I suck. Finish the day at Rank 9 Silver 1074 points. 26 Bonus Pool.

No play. I'm going to take a few days off and I'm also thinking about doing some customs with Zerg.

3-9 means I suck.

#1 I assure you, If you keep playing that much you will improve (~5 games a day)

#2 Reflecting on your wins/losses/rank/points/league/opponents might be psychologically counterproductive, atleast to record them like this...

#3 The ladder is your gym, not your body-building competition. It is what you make of it. You need to realize that nobody but you will give a shit if you're silver league or if you're masters league. You should want to lose ladder games. If you're winning every game you're not learning.

When blizzard took out the W/L ratio I initially kept track of it on my own. Eventually I said to myself, "what the fuck am I doing, who cares about your W/L ratio?" And so I stopped keeping track of it. I ladder way more now because it's so much more fun. If I go on a 6 game losing streak I just shrug it off. The point I'm trying to make is that if you stop putting so much pressure on yourself to win all the time it will be more fun to ladder. And if it is more fun to ladder you will ladder more. And if you ladder more you will get better.

Ladder is training. You can never fail at training unless you don't show up. The healthiest attitude for improvement at your stage is to completely ignore your opponents rating and the fact that you are winning or losing.

Your after game write up would be like this:

PvT, I played decently but need to focus on constant worker production. Need X gateways to defend 3rax.

It doesn't matter if you won or lost. Just focus on learning one or two things a game and recognizing the slight general improvements in your mechanics and gamesense.

It can be tricky not to get caught up in the competitiveness, it helps to pretend you are playing against an AI.

Also remember that unless you make an extremely fast jump in skill or are in the top of masters league the blizz matchmaking system will always keep you very close to 50% win/ loss. So looking at that as a barometer of success is pointless.
