Started off a pretty typical ZvP, with the usual pool first because of probes blocking my expansion. + Show Spoiler +
I scouted a 3gate expo and droned up for a bit then spat out some lings to prepare for the usual push while I got some tech up, but was somewhat surprised when it turned into a 6-gate after expo instead. It came a little earlier for that than I expected. + Show Spoiler +
I did the best I could to slow it down with the lings I had there, but they did less than I even expected. + Show Spoiler +
It DID delay it enough for my roach defense to get rolling though, and I held it when it got to my base. + Show Spoiler +
So, I got my 3rd going and got some infestors out hoping they'd do the trick to let my put some hurt back on protoss. This was when I learned something interesting. + Show Spoiler +
The people who told me (and everyone else on TL forums) that Fungal stops casting are full of crap. As you can see here, there are FFs going down from clearly fungal'ed sentries. + Show Spoiler +
In any case, my micro and positioning was wretched in the engagment due to fungal not stopping FFs and my infestors beat a hasty retreat. + Show Spoiler +
When I caught toss trying to take the gold, I went ahead and re-engaged with my army, thinking I could crush what he had there. + Show Spoiler +
Though my infestors were a bit low on energy (which actually saved at least one from feedback death) and toss's 6gate warp in at his natural stopped me from actually finishing off his army. + Show Spoiler +
I tried using my infestors to harass his main a bit, but ended up executing it poorly and getting into a bit of a fight. + Show Spoiler +
Which ended with my retreating infestors getting sniped...I forgot their speed got nerfed in the patch. + Show Spoiler +
By this time toss was way ahead on those upgrades that I forgot to research... (2/2 to 0/0) and easily crushed my army in the next engagment. + Show Spoiler +
Which was when he started getting archons... + Show Spoiler +
Turns out upgraded archons and gateway units are super-effective. + Show Spoiler +

Still, I'd say, just based on my macro and my ability to defend the 6gate and actually hold up to a master-level toss (this was another friend playing on this friend's account to protect his anonymity, lol) for over 30 minutes, this is probably the best game I've played in a long time, possibly ever.

IIRC, fungal stops tanks from sieging/unsieging if they haven't already started, and stops medivacs from dropping. But it doesn't stop casters from being able to cast.
Not sure if it prevents burrow. Probably does.

Not sure if it prevents burrow. Probably does. Medicavs can still drop and load, just not move. Fungal also reveals burrowed units and disables the units from burrowing/unburrowing during the duration. It also disables blinking. That's all I know though.

It'd be nice if Fungal completed the caster trifecta by denying spells even for 4 seconds. There would be a cool EMP-Feedback-Fungal relationship.

Well, the problem seems to lie in your post, you wrote it yourself pretty much... you didn't execute your infestor harass good enough, you forgot to upgrade (this is super big lol) and then you overextended and tried to finish him off when you clearly didn't have a sufficient army to do so, resulting in your army dying.
