So, I decided to play Terran way back when because I felt it suited a defensive turtle style the most. As a Human player in Warcraft 3, I wanted to play the "lame" race in SC2 as well. Lately, however, I've been questioning whether or not Terran is the right way to go.
I'm thinking Protoss has the most potential for lame, defensive turtle styles. Not only is their 200/200 the scariest, but warpgates are incredible in 200/200 situations as you can literally remax instantly. That and canons. 200/200 with a bunch of minerals? Put down canons. Lots of canons. Kind of like Human towers in WC3 (except built later in the game, rather than early on).
Now, of course, Terran has siege tanks and turrets and planetary fortresses and all that, but it all comes at the cost of mobility. I played mech in every matchup before going inactive for a while, and I can only imagine how much worse it is now (it was alreayd bad) against Protoss due to the thor nerf. And it really usually came down to 2-base all-ins if you wanted any chance of success against either Zerg or Protoss. I'd ideally prefer to never attack, especially not as early as 2-3 bases into the game. The only problem is I really enjoy TvT, and PvP seems to be the most boring, low-econ matchup in the game.
Any thoughts or ideas about defensive playstyles and the races best suited for them? My biggest issue is I've already switched race once (Z to T) and I don't much look forward to going back to square one, but it's still doable.
