I don't remember how, but I first stumbled upon a video and then upon the story in which it was based on. It was entitled, "Is Shakespeare dead" by Mark Twain. It was about an idea I had never thought to question. Not if Shakespeare was dead, he most certainly is... hopefully (zombies kinda freak me out). No, in this story Mark Twain questions whether or not William Shakespeare was actually the author of all the works he has been attributed with.

While this idea is interesting is does seem to borrow heavily on assumptions. One of which is that a person having a poor education as a child could not achieve such a position to write the things he wrote. I'm only here to present this to anyone who hasn't already heard of it, but I would like to ask that you submit this idea to a lot of scrutiny. More information can be found if you look around. It's been a while since I've thought about this for a while, but I happened to watch a trailer called "Anonymous" (thought it concerned something else... herm....). Regardless it's a movie coming out th is year that has a plot on the origin of Shakespeare's work.

Scholars don't actually agree who Shakespeare was, there's so much debate in the academic world amongst doctors of English literature.

Yea, this conspiracy has been around for a while. There are several good reasons for the doubting of Shakespeare being Shakespeare. There have also been tons of instances of frauds claiming to be Shakespeare and whatnot.

Strange. In French lit, they just had sex with prostitutes and died from STDs.

I agree that it is a common idea. Since so many years have passed and the evidence isn't exactly super solid it isn't possible to know either way. It feels better trusting the most solid sources and simply thinking he wrote everything, it is also the more fun version in the long run.
