So, I'll start it off with a brief introduction. Feel free to skip it, but I always enjoy knowing about other people so I'm assuming you'd want to know a little about myself and my SC history. LOL
+ Show Spoiler +
I am Komse. Currently, I am 18 and I live in thesouth. However, I was born in the big apple and ironically enough, my parents are both South Korean. I am a graduating senior in high school. In fact, I'll be graduating on May 18 even if the last day of school for me is May 11. My interest in Starcraft first came up sometime November of my junior year after watching my friend's younger brother play BW. After watching him play a few more matches, I tried my hand at it as well. I played all through Thanksgiving break, but stopped and forgot about SCBW completely as my grades were starting to slip.
At the middle of this school year, my friend gave me his SC2 account upon realizing his computer could not run it. (He's so kind, I only had to buy him coffee as thanks.) However, I had lots of projects to do. And, starting about a week ago, I started getting back into the groove of SC. It was difficult trying to learn what to do, but after watching a few youtube videos here and there, I managed to get a basic scaffolding that I could build on.

Today, my friend Lu (diamond rank) was kind enough to watch me play against AI and teach me the finer points of playing SC2. And may I say, OH MY GOD IT WAS STRESSFUL. There's nothing more terrifying than an asian screaming at you to construct another pylon, while asking why I'm not warping units fast enough. And normally, I'm good about working under pressure but there's something scary about not knowing what key to press to probe path while being told that in a real match I would've been gg'd by now. (Which today I learned pathing was just shift+right mouse click)
But, that aside, I always knew that SC2 was really intense because of all the macro, micro and timing involved, but I never knew it was this nerve wreaking. When I played by myself I was usually just messing around, it was a little less about building placement but just bs macro and building as much stalkers as possible for the hell of it. And none of my games lasted more than 12 minutes or so, but suddenly I was shoved into a 20 minute game while constantly being supply blocked and trying to get warp times correct. And of course, having Lu yelling over my should that I was moving my mouse to slowly while telling me that Korean progamers use a ball mouse while having weights strapped down to their wrist. (I think he's lying.)
Anyways, my point is that today, I was able to experience maybe 1/100th of the stress that progamers face while having more fun than ever compared to when I was playing by myself. It was nice.
I'll be playing more vs AI games tonight to slowly polish my skills. And while I would like to ladder, I can't since my internet sucks so badly. Hopefully, that'll be fixed later this week and maybe someone will be kind enough to coach me during the summer as well.
Thanks for reading! C:
And I apologize if you found it a boring read. But hopefully as I improve, I'll be putting up screenshots in my later posts.
