It is no secret that Teamliquid has grown much, with alot attributing to the release of SC2, I haven't been here very long but I can make some observations as I follow BW aswell.(You can correct me if I am wrong). I post in both sections SC2 and SCBW, however with the huge amount of posts in SC2 my posts often don't get replied to(Justified, as there are many more posts usually which contribute much more then others). On the other hand the BW forum is quiet and usually every post gets read and replied to basically, thats oke as BW is smaller hence that happens.
But: What makes you read a post in a topic?Do you skip to the last page(or the last few?) Do you look for long posts? Do you look for well paragraphed posts? Do you look for posts which contain quotes of other posters?
I often post in the General section(might actually be my most visited section lol), and I see alot of intelligent discussion there, however the recent Bin laden Thread(which was rightfully closed) was just 120 pages long at some point and I could not keep up anymore.
So how do you look for what posts to read?Or do you actually read the entire topic?
Personally I read: The OP(thats a given), the first page of replies, then if its a long topic (alot of pages) then I skip to the last few pages and if not I skim through most of the replies looking for the following:
1. Replies to my post(thats a given) 2. A well paragraphed long post(sounds ridicilous, as quanity might not be the same as quality) but long posts usually contain well structured and well written content. 3. Any Teamliquid Staff member:, this sounds perhaps odd but every staff member is a staff member for a reason and I read there posts usually(call it seniority respect or whatever). 4. Persons whom I know, there are certain posters which I can recocgnize, be it by name or icon. For example I know that there is a guy named Molfaridur(Seriously, I can't remember but I'd know if I see his name) who is appearently a lawyer and he always makes insightfull and good posts(He made excellent posts in the whole FBI cracks down on poker topic), I also read stuff from people like Blind-Rawr, who might not make the most insightfull posts(lol sorry) but is a frequent poster in the BW section and well, Nada's body(lol). There are many more people which I can tell by name or icon(and therefore by name, If I see a ghost I immideatly check if its Blind-Rawr for example).
Ow yeah, bad grammar(No need for perfect grammar, but I usually skip posts with a certain lack of grammar), CAPS LOCK POSTS(unless in an LR thread) and well, non-structured posts I do not read.
Is it shallow?Perhaps, there are alot of people here who have English as there second language yet have alot to contribute but I do not have the time to often read every single word of every single post.
So how do you read topics?do you read every post?

gogo Blind-Rawr fighting!
edit: Anyways, to add more substance to my post:
I'm quite guilty of writing multi-paragraph, super-long posts. It's basically the result of my writing style, which I strive to be dry, analytical, and objective.
However, I'm also ironically guilty of skimming or outright ignoring such long posts, which makes me feel bad considering that there are many TLers still in school who are spending their time writing essay-length posts instead of doing homework.

I have to be honest I don't read any topics on the forums. I came here to read blogs, make friends and to keep myself up to date on Pro Players, and the tournaments. I'm most likely missing out on some really helpful SC2 info as well.......

Speaking of which, top of my head I recognize more people:
Goliath=Eviltomahawk(I see you around too), Comeh(he might have changed by now) or Infinity(or something along those lines).
Reavers: Some guy from the Philipines, starts with an a(I believe).
well I can't think of any more right now, but I do when I read posts.

I just read the BW General.. sometimes the SC2 General (if its a post discussing whether or not sc2 is good). the news and the blogs.

I miss my Vulture icon, though. I LOVE zooming my Vultures around dropping mines and patrol-microing. Goliaths aren't as fun to use due to their shitty pathfinding, though I do feel extreme satisfaction watching them tear apart air units.
Also, I hang around in SC2 vs BW threads WAY too much. Although I love both games, the passions running through those threads can sometimes get quite frightening.
And I think the Filipino Reaver guy is aimaimaim.

I mainly read the OP&First page, and posts that quote my posts, and the last page.

Well, I read like 7 pages of "Your pissing style?" until I realized what that I had spent half an hour reading about how other SC2 nerds piss and quit in disgust.
Mostly, I read SC2 strategy threads(Mostly zerg related) and posts in SC2 general with an interesting thread title. I also check the 5 latest blogs to see if they seem interesting.

Where I know you from, I also tend to hang around in those threads lol, same with that Infinity92k(or w/e it is), everytime we make elaborate explenations(which ultimately mostly lead to nothing though ).
You have way to much time flamewheel, go make a power rank
