I got this game for free and feel ripped off. I was down for some cheesy Red Dawn style single player, but the story was non existent and the gameplay was just shooting gallery style checkpoints.
The multiplayer is shit too. They've tried to patch the game and fix it up which I give them some points for but it's still just shockingly bad. It's a really bad CoD clone, which are horrible games to begin with

The story was almost non existent because almost as soon as you sat down to play, the game was over. I just can't get over how much potential the game had that was just simply wasted. I couldn't get into multiplayer at all either. Seemed like a CoD-BF hybrid that just didn't really catch my interest.

Homefront was hilariously terrible, and the 4.5 hour campaign was a good thing because I'd hate to be any of the bastards who had to make this shit. I mean, jesus christ...
'stealth' section that says "oh fuck I wanna be like the chernobyl levels from MW1" but fails miserably. boring manshoot which is insanely derivative from every other similar manshoot since MW1 with
slow-mo breach section that says "oh fuck I wanna be like MW2!" but is still about as tame as the first (even more so cuz with the first there was a bit more tension added, like "jeez I better not shoot the explosive bomb thingy")
Bbsolutely nothing new to bring to the table other them "it's shorter!" and "you regen a bit faster!" and " 'involving' story line that is nothing but a bunch of pointlessly overly gritty brutal sections and cardboard cutout characters.
I mean, you can make a story about brutal occupiers and have it work (half life 2 anyone?) because you make that shit bleak and you make the characters likeable. Homefront failed at both, hilariously poorly, and decided to turn itself into a brainless action romp instead of what it really wanted to be.
Oh and the ending was laughably bad. I think they had a few more sections planned for the game but had to cut it down to that hilariously shitty ending a bit early for some deadline. I dunno.
Multiplayer might have been ok I spose. Didn't try it. But in general Homefront is godawful and I hope THQ don't greenlight a sequel (they probably have since selling shitty FPS games with good marketing seems to be a pretty cool way to make money these days)

I don't buy games with pre release a announced expansions and dlc for this exact same reason. The devolera cut parts of the game so they can rush out expansions, which is likely exactly what happened here.

I agree, this game was soooo badass looking and had the potential to be at least decent. However, something struck me in doubt when I was considering getting it. I watched Totalbiscuit's review on it and it looked like a joke. I also went to a friend who bought it and that pretty much confirmed it for me.

I watched a playthrough and it felt pretty decent. The premise of the storyline seemed pretty interesting to me, too. What killed it for me was actually the things the enemies yell at you:
IT'S ALWAYS THE SAME GUY. ALWAYS SCREAMING THE SAME GODDAMN THING.
Jesus Christ, they're Communist soldiers. Make them silent or something. They should be, like, stone cold robots, personifications of a society that has erased their individualities. As a Korean I facepalmed everytime I heard that gruff Nork voice.
And yeah, it's way too short.

While I can't comment much on the game itself (policy and stuff) I do regularly bring feedback I hear back to the developers. Pretty interested to hear what TL disliked and liked about the game aside from the usual "too short" and "CoD clone" comments.

I think these reviews do no justice to this game. I bought it this weekend on Steam for about 6 euro (with all DLC!)
The campaign was meh.. I'll give it a 7. However the Multiplayer is sooooo aweseom. I've played at least 20 hours of MP since I started this weekend and absolutely love it. I get so bored with FPS's so fast it's not fun. This game however keeps me playing. So many crazy things you can do in MP it's amazing. You have many abilities and drones, tanks, aircraft etc.
I'd like to name them IMBA's instead of battle points
Also the graphics and sound effects (combat and engine sounds) are really well done. I was sincerely impressed by this game. Well... not so much the single player but the multi player was 9/10 for me.

I too recently bought this game, saw it at EB Games for 20 bucks and figured i'd pick it up.
I start the game up, and within the first few mins I realise just how dark this game is. I mean, seriously, some of the things in this game just make me sick. + Show Spoiler + For example, the kid's parents getting shot right in front of him on the initial bus ride, the dead body ditch, the start of chapter 4...
I like the game, but i can't play for more than an hour without getting sick.
Thing is, I handled the nuke in CoD4 perfectly fine, not even a twitch, but this is just too much for me
(Still gonna play it though, lol)
