Um, well I didn't expect my first post on my blog would attract so much attention. And most of the replies were negative and saying that my post is too short! Interesting forum. This blog is mostly for me, to keep track of my SC II progress.
I first played the single campaign, thinking I wouldn't be able to play multiplayer because my internet is so damn slow.
So I completed the campaign in three days, struggling in some bits like "Infestation Delight" and "All In". After I beat the game (completed the mission on normal/casual), I got bored and finally tried multiplayer. Surprisingly enough, the connection was fast, thanks to battle.net. Took me quite a while to adjust to RTS, since immediately before SC II, I played Assassin's Creed II straight for a week. Very very different!
I stayed with team games, because 1v1 isn't optimal for RTS beginners like me. Hence my breakdown of games played (some might disagree, and think I should do 1v1 more):
1v1: 10% 2v2: 20% 3v3: 30% 4v4: 40%
Anything I learned from allies in team games, and use it in 1v1 and 2v2.
***
Very quickly, I made some friends on SC II. The player "Snight" really gave me a good intro to the tricks and trade of the game, and invited me to a group called Valor...
That's it for now! Hope that is long enough for you.

I recommend you lurk TL before posting a bit, these forums are a bit different from what you're probably used to even if you come from a relatively mature forum
|
Let's say, the TLers aren't really eager to read the progress of a noob.(sorry) Many players in here are far, far above your skill level, so elitism is happening often here. (I admit, I am a BW elitist too) These forums are really different from others, so I second the post of GhostKorean.
Edit: I can't emphasize enough you to stay away from posting. I read your first blog, and if it wasn't your first post, you would've surely got a warning. Or atleast, really think before pressing the button if your post is gonna contribute to these Elite-forums.
Lol @ elite, but it is true

I feel almost like he is joking. Maybe it's just me being paranoid. but none the less I think since this is a forum, and admins give everyone the privelege to blog; I think he should do what he wants. He's just not gonna be liked very much.
|
Man, you don't have to lurk at all. Just stay positive, try to only post when you have something you want to say and don't be a dick. That's it! Also there are plenty of people interested in reading the progress of a noob, if it's well written and entertaining.

One swede player wasted 30 minutes of his time just to help me with some achievements.
P.S. If I am a dick, I shouldn't be that hard to swallow

I disagree. 1v1 is the best place to start.

Don't worry, I was like you when I first started here. You will eventually get used to the tone of these forums.
and don't whine on balance, ok? The mods don't like qq much.

any form of team play does not translate well to 1v1. Really the only things you can gain from doing teams over 1v1 is very very basic mechanics IE, building workers, not getting supply blocked, and using hotkeys and the like.
Nothing somebody does in team games is really viable in a 1v1 situation.

2v2 is really good to work on harassment and multitasking if you are a little bit slow with base management while keeping units alive.

Team games are really really horrible place to start, its where people who are slightly scared start. However, I bet most people started there (including me) so I don't blame you but from my experience and most people here will agree, start with 1v1's. The ladder system is great in helping people like you so you will play people at your skill level after about 10ish maybe games? You will learn much more useful information and advance at a faster pace in 1v1's in team games imo. So spend your time wisely.

Hope you enjoy SC2 and TL.net :3 As for your experience with SC2. It's very different and sometimes frustrating, so don't be afraid to stop whenever you feel flustered!

I don't see what the big deal is. A blog is a blog. A weblog. It's there for him to write whatever he feels like writing. If you don't like it, don't read it anymore.
I don't think anyone has the right to tell him to write longer posts.
But yeah, this forum is very special. In that there are a lot of stupid people posting while you're not able to tell them why they're stupid because the mods don't like that. Oh well.

Calling other people stupid and implying mods are stupid, obv.
