First a little about me. I'm a high school student, who plays Starcraft 2 a bit, and is looking to improve . The problem is, I don't have too much time to ladder, and when I do, I can usually only play one game. So this blog is just going to be me, posting a link to a replay, and me analyzing it. I'm hoping that someone better than me will take the time to look at these, and tell me if my analysis is correct, things I missed, and how I can improve more. This is going to be my first blog, and I'm really glad that it's on TeamLiquid; this website has been an amazing resource for me, and I hope that anyone reading this will be able to give me feedback!

Summary:

This game was played on Shakuras Plateau, against a Terran. I decided to wall off on the choke at my natural, so I could get a fairly quick expo. Since this was my first game in a while, I decided to 3 Gate expand, instead of my usual 1 Gate FE. I basically macroed until I got a Robo Bay, and made an observer. I used the observer to see his army size. It looked small, so I attacked and won the game.

Mistakes I made:

Pylon Blocks: I had a bunch of these

@33/34 6:10

@50/50 8:00-ish

@76/76 9:45

@92/92 10:58

Didn't get probes in 2nd gas

Floating quite a bit of minerals, especially towards the end.

Could have gotten another forge for the double upgrade

Maybe could have gotten more warpgates or maybe faster colossi?

Should have taken 3rd faster

Good things I did:

I got upgrades pretty early.

Took expo pretty quickly.

Did fairly well in scouting early on

Fairly constant probe + unit production.

I think that I could have macroed better, aka less pylon blocks. Could have kept my money a lot lower. But overall I think I played a pretty solid game, but I just need to work on my mechanics much more.

To be honest that was a pretty damn good game for a bronze league player (used to be one) so keep it up and you'll be out of there in no time. You really hit most the points yourself, a few bumps with getting supply blocked and it's at that time where the natural is just about running so remind yourself you're making more probes now in addition to the gateway/robo units. If you want me to be picky one thing I would say is go up to at least 4 gate + robo once you were on two base. I know the game ended abruptly so I'll assume you were gonna make tons of colossus and rofl stomp him but you can still afford 4 gates with that if you have good saturation. Another thing is right at the end, you probably knew you had the game and you were just watching his base burn which is sick awesome, but try and pinch yourself and go warp in another round of units or throw down another expo or add some gates. I've had some games where I thought it was gg and somehow my army dies and if I was just sitting there watching a counterattack is now coming at me and I'm more or less naked. Overall though great play, great self analysis and if you keep it up you definitely bust out of bronze soon.
