Re-learned again tonight that, as zerg, once I get a military advantage, decimate my opponent's worker line, have a bigger army, etc...
...I CAN NOT JUST CONTINUE TO PUSH AT HIS BASE RELENTLESSLY.
Protoss can just defend until I'm blue in the face, make a comeback and kill me.
When I'm in a good position, I have the upper hand and the game seems won: MACRO HARDER.
Simple post. 'Nuff said.

lolwhat. How can protoss just defend forever, they can only replenish based on how many gateways they have. Ie, if they 4gate robo, they can only make 4 units at a time every 28~ seconds. Other than delaying with forcefields, I don't see what you're having problems with =)
If it's vision you should bring an overlord.
If it's late game and they have a lot of gates I understand, but your army should be able to push through whatever they warp in while reinforcing if you want to commit.
Edit: The only way I can see them holding is if your barely win the fight and make the wrong decission to push. Which is your fault for being greedy.
|
I would think its almost the opposite. As Zerg you can reinforce a lot faster than they can, so unless your economy was behind his to begin with, the second you take out the core of his army you should be looking to deal a crippling blow.
|
Try dropping them, forcefields don't work on air . Not only that but drops can completely catch the protoss off guard and if you snipe the pylons powering the gateways then toss have no way to come back
|
Perhaps a replay? I'd love to see how toss can hold so I can use it in future!

i would say that works until the magical blue snowglobes run out of energy or die, then it is really game over if you keep being aggressive and din't lose too much (Assuming you are ahead, this is not a balance statement) but yes if you can harass that is a really good idea as well.

Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory.
-Sun Tzu
when you think you've won take all the bases on the map and starve him out...never strive for victory only avoid defeat
|
Don't try to win, try to increase your chance to win.
|
i get what your trying to say, but because of your lack of effort and the effort it took me to understand you, i gave you a one
|
I find the OP completely understandable and 100% true.

Also roach supply is inflated if you're using that to determine you have the bigger army. This is even more true if he has sentries and can cut your army in half in each engagement.
Just learn to gauge how the engagement might go. Don't just depend on higher numbers when he has units that can micro.
|
My advice is just don't force the issue. If you get an advantage take anouther base, tech do something that makes you further ahead late game. The easyiest way to lose from a winning position is to just throw units away trying to force a quick win.

REPLAY
There's the replay. My econ past the very beginning suffered so horribly, because I saw an opening to push on 2 base, crushed his econ and thought I could just finish him off. I CAN'T DO THAT.
I needed to take the time, take a 3rd (maybe a 4th), grab some more drones, maybe harass a little and win LATER. Zerg just isn't able to push an advantage like this, like the other races. (At least that's what the master league players I know say...)
So, as Day[9] once said, when you're ahead...get more ahead.
|
On the upside, I'm like 12:2 in the last 2 weeks on ladder...though Bnet ate like 4-5 of those off my record, so it looks like I'm 8:2 I think?
Either way, 8:2 ain't bad.

That line is actually Artosis's!
Anyway your sentiment is right that you shouldnt just go try to kill a guy 2base vs 2base(this is a bad situation for zerg anyway) but it's not like this dude was making a laser turtle or anything. if you had better macro and had waited a few seconds to mass up a big PURE roach army rather than streaming lings in to their doom it actually would have worked on this guy.
But yeah usually it's better practice to get more than 2 bases and like 44 drones as Zerg.
