To become good at Starcraft I knew that you had to use your money and not build up a trust fond along with building workers all the time. This I had learned from seeing and playing Broodwar, but I never really got good at it... Later I learned that it took a bit more than just keeping your money low and building workers. It was all about macro, mechanics, game sense, micro and all that good jazz, and I had none of it, which is why bronze league probably was the best place for me to start.
A couple of months, maybe three, after the beta opened, a friend of mine (negativeONE) introduced me to day9. Up until then I had only seen Broodwar matches on youtube (Moletrap and others), and the Starcraft 2 show matches that had been released. This really opened my eyes up for the important aspects of the game (mechanics, macro etc.), and how cool the game was! So at some point I was ready for the game to be released, but for some reason nothing of all things I had heard (not learned, learning is when it sticks on), did not get put to use. I couldn't even 4 gate.
A typical opening was either a 2 gate zealot opening against Protoss and Terran, or forge fast expand against Zerg. The forge fast expand was something I had seen in Broodwar matches, and the two gate maybe also from Broodwar but I believe it was because it was used so many times effectively on me.
This is from a match played: 27-07-2010 (my second oldest replay ^^ ).
We both open 2 gate zealot, but he remembers to use chrono boost, which leads to this:
In this game I sent out my scout after pylon, kept in his base until he had 2 gateways and started to chrono boost out his first zealot. About 10 seconds later I apparently realize this and start to chrono boost out my own zealot (but forget to build a new zealot).
GG
In this match (played 24-08-2010) I open forge into an expansion against a Zerg player. In general every aspect of my gaming sucked, which meant that I could support way more structures than other players
As you can probably deduce from the picture I started out with Void Rays. That went fine, until I kept flying them in at the same spot, which made him decide to park all of his Hydra's there = me losing my Void Rays. After that failed I started to turn out some Colossi, and why not build 4 robotics facilities, I clearly had enough money to do so.
In general Colossi roast every light unit that exist, but not when you put them on move command into your opponents army.....
It is actually pretty cool. The void Rays made the zerg player make Hydra's so I could go colossi and... Or.. maybe not
GG
Even though you may think that I only lost games, I actually also won some - since bronze players in general suck at an equal rate
It was against a Terran player (played 27-07-2010, my third replay saved ^^). I started out with my usual 2 gate opening.
+ Show Spoiler +
10: pylon
10: Chrono boost nex
13: Halt probe production for 15 seconds + harass with scouting probe
13: Chrono boost nex
15: 2 Gateways + assimilator
15: Halt probe production for 30 seconds + harass with scouting probe
15: 3 on gas
16: Chrono boost nex
18: Gateway + cybernetics core + queue up 2 zealots
When supply blocked build 4 pylons
23: Assimilator
24: Chrono boost nex
24: Halt probe production for 20 seconds
25: 2 zealots
29: Warp gate research + chrono boost nex
30: 4 on other gas + zealot
32: Chrono boost zealot
34: Forge
And BAM! 2 stargates on 35 (your win condition)
38: Stalker
39: 2 zealots
45: Halt probe production permanently - you have enough now!
45: Start +1 ground weapon upgrade + 5 pylons + 2 stalkers
49: Void Ray
52: 2 cannons in mineral line (do not want to lose to banshees)
After this you just build another Void ray when having money to do it - just spend all your chrono boost on them, the faster you get them out the better.
When the first Void Ray is done morph in warp gates
Send out a scout zealot and warp in 3 zealots
When +1 upgrade is done you attack. If you want to you can expand and build some more Void Rays, but the push normally wins you the game ^^

When he lost the big battle he asked, and I answered:
It is always nice being good at a game, and being able to help others
GG
As you can see I knew nothing of the game, even though I perhaps thought so.
