I tend to just ignore my mother's raging whenever it happens, but god damn does this one take the cake. I'm laying down on top of my bed napping because I was up all night last night studying/writing papers. Naturally, I'm tired as hell. I take the nap because I have another long night of studying ahead of me. This isn't really new to my schedule or anything. Every once in a while, I take a small nap before dinner, so I didn't think anything of it.
I sleep for about 1 hour before the shit hits the fan. I wake up to my mother screaming my name. By screaming, I mean screaming loud as hell to the point where our neighbors can hear. I have no idea what's going on. I'm in the half awake-half asleep mode. It's the mode where you know you're awake and should be doing productive shit, but you just can't think clearly in your head. This entire time, I hear the screaming and I'm like, "WTF do you want?" in my head. I have no idea what the hell my mother wants. I'm assuming this is just her calling me for dinner or something.
I walk down the stairs and see her by the front door waiting for something. The only thing I can muster up is "What?" in my half asleep phase. She clearly knows I was just sleeping and knew I was in one of this modes, but she fucking goes off the deep end. The yelling my name to get my attention went into 100% scream at me mode. She had gone crazy, all because I had gone down the stairs without the item she wanted. After screaming for 5 minutes and me calmly asking WTF she wants, I figure out she wants my car keys. I head back up stairs and it takes me 5 seconds to find them. FIVE SECONDS. Those five seconds turned into another 5 seconds of pure scream mode. I had no idea what the hell was going on.
Now, everything's subsided and in my mind I'm thinking, my mother is freaking insane. Even my grandfather, whom is usually on my Mother's side of things (for good reason most of the time), thinks she is god damn crazy. I wish I had video taped the entire thing just so she could see how insane she was getting over a set of car keys and me napping for 1 damn hour. Absolutely ridiculous.
Edit - I completely forgot to mention why she wanted the car keys! My father had just gone to the optometrist and he forgot to bring his insurance card. He took my mother's car instead of bringing his truck with him. His company truck was also blocking his pickup from leaving the driveway so my car was the only accessible car at the time since it was out parked on the street.

So... any explanation on why she wanted the car keys?

This sounds totally normal to me... when you take into account she is a woman. The ways of women are deeply mysterious and often terrifying. That's all I can say. Can't live with them, can't live without them. And mothers are the epitome of that sentiment.
All that being said, I love my mum even though she's crazy crazy at times just like that!
P.S. How old is your mum? Sometimes women get real crazy when they reach menopause. Or I dno, they're just nuts!

I'm guessing this isn't the first time she had to move your car because you insensitively parked behind someone who needed to get out.

Woops. Edited that in. That seems important to the story.

She's a good driver, even when she's insane, so yeah.

I never do that . I always park out on the street. The driveway is for my parents.

Hahaha. She's getting to that age.
Flaccid's comment was awesome for those that didn't see it. He ninja'd the shit out of it, but I got it. "You shouldn't have locked your grandmother in the car."

Dude....get her to go to an anger management specialist or something.

Yeah, she sounds like a bitch. There are several ways to deal with that, but none of them involve actually expecting her to change.

So does she normally yell and scream? My boss yells and scream for no reason. Sometimes I want to strangle the bastard. Not that I think you should strangle your mother. = ]

Not usually. It happens at least a few times a month. I normally just brush it off as her being stressed or something, but this time I don't even know what to say about it.

I can relate. I eventually just moved out. There was no other solution. It was that or ultimately say goodbye to my sanity too.

Am I the only one that think she's not that insane?

My mother actually takes medicine for a lot of mental issues she's had but she's never gone crazy like that. She's extremely stubborn when it comes to admitting that she's wrong though, and she sleeps several hours midday whilst still sleeping a full night.

She's an adult, probably stressed out, maybe in a professional job? Cut her some slack being an adult is hard.
|
that´s normal. she was mad because your father forgot his insurance card and she had to get it for him. If a mother/woman in a certain age gets mad she just gets mad, nothing you can do about it :D
