When the game came out and I started to play on ladder I started out with playing Protoss and despite not knowing how to 4gate and never using Colossi or Void Rays somehow got into Platinum. For me the Stalker was the best unit ever and so I usually massed those with Blink.
A short while later the game started to feel a bit stale as Protoss and started playing Zerg. Starting from that day I kind of took the game and the strategies/builds more serious and have progressed to Diamond in the meantime.
Now I think ZvP is easily my best matchup because I had prior experience with Protoss, but ZvT is really my worst one. In ZvT I'm prone to dying to Marine/SCV, Blue Flame Hellion, 2-Port Banshee and all that shenanigans. I only start to feel comfortable when I start to enter mid-/late game vs. Terran.
Because of that I thought, maybe it would help to play Terran myself and get a feel for the builds and timings... needless to say... with mediocre results so far.
So all in all I'm starting to think: "to hell with your ladder rating, it's not really a benchmark of skill if you haven't even used up your bonus pool" and ponder about going Random.
So do you think it would help my game sense and overall understanding to just ignore getting to top with one race and going Random instead or am I just wasting my time?
It'll be funny though, getting demoted to Gold while playing Zerg on Diamond level, Toss at Platinum and Terran at Bronze/Silver (with occassionaly beating Diamond/Master with 3rax).
Sorry if this stuff is a bit hard to read, just ranting and writing down my thoughts as it comes.
