I miss the old days when we were still in the Philippines and can watch starcraft almost as the same hour as korea... I also miss the old days when I can stay up late and wake up really early on the next day...
When we moved here in Canada and still got no job, I watched almost all pro- scene games, including GSL. I woke up as early as 5 and sleep as late as 3am as necessary (e.g. SKT on PL and Boxer on GSL).. Back in the Philippines, I also did a lot of overtime works even until after midnight and went back to work the next day at 8am. Anyway, now, I have a regular morning job and doesn't do overtime work but I can't do this anymore.. I am too old for these.
Last weekend was supposed to be a starcraft weekend. 12 midnight for KT vs Woongjin, 3am for GSL finals, 2pm for TSL, and 12 midnight (Sunday) for SKT vs Oz. And guess waht? the only thing I watched was TSL, obviously because it wasn't during wee hours! I was trying to watch SKT vs Oz but I can barely keep my eyes open and the next thing I saw was (spoiler alert on SKT vs Oz) + Show Spoiler +bisu being attacked by lings ang lurkers. That was bad, after bisu gg's I turned off my pc and just went to bed with a broken heart. And so, I also missed s2 vs jd.
Bottom line is.. I feel old! I can't even stay up late even on weekends! And I miss watching bw live! I know I can watch the games thru vods but watching it live is really different.
Oh well, regardless of being old and not able to watch games live, I will forever remain as an SC fan!

You can move to the west coast and gain 3 hours. So the midnight proleague is at 9pm.

Haha I feel similar although it's for the better... can't afford to screw up my sleep schedule or be exhausted at work...

so true! better than screwing up at work... but the thing is, i don't know why i can't keep up even on weekend
it feels really frustrating... but i think i can do it if there's a really really good game on weekends or i mean if my favorite players would play. i remembered waking up early to watch fantasy vs stork hehe

how old are you when you say you are too old? :O

I lived in Australia on the same time zone as Korea and then moved to Canada and still have no job as well. I know what you mean. I'm almost 27 and I can't stay up late to do this anymore either

It's just a fact of life that the more global the pro scene becomes, the more you will have to give up watching games live. And hey NASL is going to be all VOD anyway. While I understand the thrill of feeling you are watching something that is happening "right now", unless you are physically there, it really is only psychological.
Which is all to say, you can still have a whale of a time watching Starcraft whatever your are or timezone!
(Have to say though having said that I do love living in the same time zone as Korea wheeeee!)

ahaha proleague keeps fucking up my sleep schedule. i keep telling myself i can just watch them in a couple days anyway but theres something about live games thats so much better :p
sleep really is more important though, id make exception for big matches like finals and stuff but its too much to stay up for every match.

I can only watch pro-league on Fridays now living in EDT. GSL and weekday pro-league is basically impossible. It was somewhat do-able when it was on at 5 AM, but then they moved it back an hour, and after that they took out the break between code A and S, the latter of which would start at 6ish.
Now I just read the LR threads at work and watch the VODs, but its not the same.

I can no longer watch PL at 5 AM's during the weekday. It kills my sleep pattern, so I have no choice but to follow the VODs.
|
i only try to watch the RO4+ live. vods are okay for PL/WL and earlier rounds, if i need to get my sleep.
i guess it helps that i'm on the west coast and that my work has a flexible schedule... as long as you work 8 hours you're good.

All I have to say is naps ftw. It solves all tiredness.

Seems like you know whats best for you =D

I just wanted to pop in and say that you, my good man, are a large part of what makes the SC community so awesome. I'm impressed by your dedication and I have to agree: live games just have that special aura about them.

ehm this might seem dumb, but I don't have time to see the matches during work hours live, but I have to ask.... what's wrong with vods?
|
I feel the same. used to be I could go to bed at midnight and wake up at 5-6am with no ill effects now I need at least 8 hours a night or I'm struggling to make it through a work day.
that said obviouly i have it easy for the GSL because its on at 5pm my time. But the TSL is out of my reach. Thank god for VODs.

lol
Live games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Vod
Even if LR Polls are Recommended for certain games, I can never watch them. And yeah, living near Korea is great :D

Watching stuff live is more amazing, first of all you have a chat, where people can spam all over of how amazing it is how the person is playing. If for example someone does a corsair/shuttle juke not only do you go WOAAAAAH but your entire chat goes WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, which adds to the spectatortship. That and ofcourse live is just live, they are playing right at that time, you get to be one of the first to see how they are playing, its more a community thing I think.
