Well ladies and gentlemen; the final qualifier is over for the New England Starcraft 2 League. However, it is not the last chance to get into the Grand Finals. There is one more “Last Chance” Tournament (original right?), which will be announce with all rule with in the next couple of weeks. But lets get on with what happened this time before we talk about next.
It started of as the normal NE lan. There were issues. Drogith’s computer kept shutting off. I blame the PSU. All was good though because Force was there for the save. They both casted on Force’s computer/stream. That was the only major issue for the day thankfully. I also wanted to mention, I saw just how great the community really is. Two people brought in munchkins in for everyone, neither planning on it, and I brought oatmeal rasin cookies.
We had a 22 person show up meaning it was another bo3 tournament. Here are the Brackets. Before it got going, Drogith gave the quick rule speech followed by me explaining how the brackets worked then we got on our way with the 13 computers we had.
~Drogith giving instuctions with Trooneh just wanting to play~
First up was Trooneh v Sharpiez, Consuskev v Illvm, mBombz v Muzzy, GoneBabyGnda v Critta, Tupac v Logo, BronzeKnee v GPlayer, Legless v Tyler, and Oso v Kelsin.. With 2-0 wins, Sharpiez, Con, Muzzy, GBG, Tupac, BronzeKnee, Tyler, and Oso moved on. Ajtls AKA Ajtls AKA LastShadow AKA What ever it is hes going by now played his first match with Sharpiez. Sharpiez got the first match of the series but lost it over all, moving on to the lower brackets. In DuckyRangers first match, the ranger won 2-0 against Consuskev. Nesix played his first match and also got a 2-1 win against Muzzy. Bitters, one of the favored players, lost his first series against GoneBabyGnda with a 0-2 loss. The next series was DigitalFear v Tupac, with Tupac moving on in a 2-0 win. The last series in this round was MecHavoc v BronzeKnee. BronzeKnee moved on 2-0.
In the lower bracket, Trooneh went up against Bitters, DigitalFear against Illvem, MecHavoc against mBombz, Sharpiez against Critta, Concuckev against Logo, and Muzzy against GPlayer. Trooneh moved on with a 2-1 win as wells as Logo. Illvm, mBombz, Sharpiez, and Muzzy moved on with 2-0 wins also. In the next round of the lower brackets, Tooneh moved on against Kelsin, Illvm moved on against mBombs, Sharpiez moved on against Legless, and Logo moved on against Muzzy, all with 2-0 wins.

Back in the Upper brackets, Ajtls won a 2-0 series against Tyler, Ducky against Nesix, and BronzeKnee against Tupac. Oso moved on also with a 2-1 win against GoneBabyGnda. Here, the upper brackets took a quick hiatus as the lower brackets now caught up. Oso had this to say after his match though.
Oso:
I think the only interesting game I had today was vs gonebabygnda or however you spell it. Props to him for a great macro game which he made an insane colossus ball i couldn't break. Unfortunately the game I proxy in-base hatched him, my computer froze and we couldn't play that one out. I spend a lot of time watching ROOTCatZ and got in a couple non-standard games today, including a proxy hatch spine crawler rush against bronzeknee in the lower finals.

Trooneh versed Tyler, winning 2-0, to face Nesix who just won 2-1 against Illvm. In the Trooneh v Nesix, Trooned continued with a 2-1 win. GoneBabyGnd faced Sharpiez with Sharpiez moving on with a 2-0 win and Tupac moved on against Logo, also with a 2-0 win. This meant that Sharpiez faced Tupac, getting a 2-1 to move on. Now that everyone was caught up, the Upper bracket was ready to play.
~Looking down at the group~
Ajtls knocked Ducky down to the lower brackets with a 2-0 win, moving on to the quarter finals. Oso did the same to BronzeKnee but with a 2-1 win. Drogith and Force decided to cast the rest of the matches, meaning that there would be short breaks for some of the players. The first up was BronzeKnee and Trooneh. Bronzknee used his 5 gate builds and knocked Trooneh out with another 2-0 win. Ducky was up next. It took him a couple of minutes since he was just getting out of a nap, but he finally woke up and took a 2-0 win against Sharpiez. But Ducky wasn’t fully awake apparently when he went up against BronzeKnee.
~GreenRanger and Ducky sleeping~
In the first game of the PvZ, BronzeKnee went for a quick four gate and overcame Ducky’s zerglings and queen defending his natural. He then pushed into the main where Ducky had no choice but to “gg”.
In the next, BronzeKnee attempted another four gate, but Ducky spotted the pylon early. BronzeKnee canceled one of his gates, took the second gas and went into a 3 gate sentry expand. Ducky started to go for the Gold but BronzeKnee caught it. He pushed out with a 5 gate push and hallucinated some Colossus. The next push was pretty much even at the gold until the sentries ran out of energy against the mass roach army and BronzeKnee had to retreat with heavy losses. Next he built two void rays and pushed out again. Without enough force fields, His gateways units got chewed to pieces, but the void rays did massive damage to Ducky’s roaches as he had no anti-air. Ducky was able to save his gold base though with 5 hydralisks, which forced BronzeKnee’s Void Rays back before they could target down the hatchery. After a brief period of rebuilding, Ducky dropped a large army on BronzeKnee’s main via his Overlords, BronzeKnee avoided the cannons he had up in his natural, and gged.
In the last game of the series, on Match Point of course, BronzeKnee attempted a quick four gate again, but Ducky destroyed the proxy pylon, delaying the push. A 5th gateway was built, and then a Nexus. After building up a reasonable force, BronzeKnee pushed out and canceled the Nexus. His force overwhelmed Ducky’s largely speedling army, and he gged. After, Ducky said he knew he was going to cancel the Nexus.
~Very Dramatic Pose of SC2 screen~
The next series shown was Ajtls against Oso. Ajtls did the same build as he had been doing all day, constantly having TvZ. For the most part, he went 2rax all-in and doing defensive-mech. Ajtls won the series, 2-0 against Oso.
It was now time for the finals. Oso went up against BronzeKnee in a bo5 series.
Game 1 vs Oso - Tal Darim Altar
BronzeKnee opened with a three gate sentry expand and went for a 5 gate push off two bases. He moved out and got his pylons up and saw a roach heavy force. Oso had great micro which ended up forcing BronzeKnee back with heavy losses. Next BronzeKnee built a robo and transitioned into Colossus. Oso came in with a large attack that force fields broke up and forced him back. Oso attacked again from two directions after BronzeKnee had built a few Colossus up and sealed off one side, and BronzeKnee was able to annihilate a chunk of Oso’s army before he retreated. After a few minutes he came in again, this time with a large amount of corrupters and picked off the colossus while overwhelming BronzeKnee’s gateway units with sheer numbers. BronzeKnee gged.
Game 2 vs Oso
BronzeKnee got a quick four gate win, overcoming some zerglings and spine crawlers.
Game 3 vs Oso – Braxis Orbital
BronzeKnee went for a Warp Prism rush to drop cannons and +1 zealots in his base, but with this build you go gas first, then gateway, so his wall off was delayed. Oso went for a proxy hatch and just ran zerglings into BronzeKnee base before the zealot got out to close the door, taking the third game from BronzeKnee..
~Everyone Upstairs watching the Finals on the projecter (Epic and amazing seats ^_^)~
Game 4 vs Oso – Match Point
Again, BronzeKnee attempted a quick four gate, but Oso was able to destroy the proxy pylon, delaying the push. Then BronzeKnee built a 5th gateway, and sat in his base, building up a large force of mostly zealots then pushed out. BronzeKnee was able to get his proxy pylons up and pushed hard against Oso’s force of roaches and speelings as well as several spine crawlers. The battle became a war of attrition that Bronze was slowly winning with good stalkers micro and constantly bringing in more zealots. He was able to kill Oso’s expansion and began pushing into the main when Oso counterattacked Bronze’s base with four zerglings. Bronze built 1 stalker behind what he thought was a solid wall of gateways and pylons, but was mistaken, and once he realized the zerglings made it into the base, they had killed half of his probes. Making Bronze GG.
Oso won the bo5 and went on to face Ajtls for the second time. I asked him to give me a quick recap on what he did. He said:
Ajtls:
well i didn't want to 2rax all-in every game, and i had been playing defensive-mech literally all day, since i think that mech is completely underused etc.
so i did some builds that albeit are entertainment for the observers, are actually quite real such as the BC rush and then just negating his baneling/ling/roach bust in game 4. i opened reaper in game 4 because i figured that after all the tricky builds i had done, and after all the mech he played against earlier vs me, that he would try something super all-in or something to negate my hellions or marines(roaches) so i went reaper to be safe, and direct countered him.
that's about it, i played tvz all day, except for 2 tvt's early on, and i played the same mech build/style all day long.

The New England Starcraft 2 League is operating with an official license from Blizzard and will continue to do so.
So that’s it for the LAN today. Sorry that this write up was seriously lacking in pictures as in there were none at all. My camera decided to fail on me at the LAN.
Edit: NeSix To the Rescue!! He took all pictures except for the Ducky and Finalist pictures.
